PrimaryPurpose:
To manage the Career and Technical Education Programs in Alief ISD.
Qualifications:Education/Certification:
- Bachelor’s Degree
- Master’s Degree in education administration/leadership or school counseling preferred
- Principal or Counselor Certification preferred
- CTE Certification preferred
Special Knowledge/
Skills:
- Experience working with people from diverse cultural and ethnic backgrounds
- Ability to interface with administration and staff
- Instructional confidence, creativity, and innovation
- Excellent organizational, communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills
- Eligibility to drive district vehicles
Experience:
- Three (3) years’ experience teaching is preferred
Responsibilities and Duties:
Management of Fiscal, Administrative, and Facilities Functions
- Assist in the management of the Perkins grant and reporting of expenditures to ensure compliance standards for CTE.
- Assist in the management of PEIMS reporting to ensure compliance standards for CTE.
- Manages CTE programs development and projects for all assigned cluster areas and 100+ course offerings including the coordination of all certification opportunities related to assigned cluster area.
- Assists in the identification and development of opportunities to meet work force needs and student interest.
- Oversees the development and implementation of curriculum to support course offerings and campuses.
- Assist in the development and implementation of CTE program evaluations. Act as the liaison to ALC/Crossroads/Distance learning for assigned curriculum areas.
- Works with campus teachers regarding instructional support, integration of academic content and rigor into curriculum, coherent sequences of courses, classroom management, resources, and student concerns.
- Assists in the overseeing of budget to ensure all programs are implemented fairly and consistently across the district.
- Works as a liaison between the CTE Department and Special Populations:
At Risk;
Graduation-Drop Out; LEP; SPED; and Homeless. - Identifies and facilitates internships; job shadowing; mentorships; and cooperative learning opportunities for programs across all areas of CTE.
- Assists in the CTE Advisory groups and acts as the liaison between CTE and assigned groups.
- Assists in the development and implementation of a comprehensive professional development plan to support CTE program staff including mentoring new and returning CTE teachers.
- Consult with campus teachers regarding special populations. Attend ARD meeting and provide course recommendations to students.
- Facilitate CTE program recruitment and marketing to ensure future projections meet student interest.
- Works in collaboration with other departments in the development of public relation/ marketing materials, newsletters, and district updates.
- Organize and maintain confidential files or pupil data.
- Develop and coordinate district-wide professional development for curriculum and instruction.
Other
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet the current and future needs of Alief.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
