Job DescriptionTo provide small group instruction for students who are at‑risk in reading and math.
QualificationsEducation / Certification:
- Bachelor’s degree from a recognized, accredited college or university
- Texas certification standards required for assignment as set by the State Board for Educator Certification (SBEC)
- ESL Certification preferred or required for full‑time employees within two (2) years of employment (for teachers hired in 2010‑11)
- Excellent T‑TESS or alternative evaluation scores

- Strong content knowledge of the grade‑level curriculum
- Effective communication skills
- Ability to build and maintain productive relationships among colleagues
- Ability to multi‑task complex administrative activities
Experience:
- Three (3) years of traditional public classroom teaching experience or equivalent
Program Management
- Serve as an added tier of intervention for students who are struggling in their classes.
- Work closely with district staff to train campus teachers on intervention strategies to use with struggling students and provide follow‑up at the campus level.
- Provide a climate of high expectations for staff and students.
- Evaluate current school intervention efforts in light of effective practices and identify practices that need to be added or revised.
- Attend district‑level meetings held throughout the school year to coordinate efforts across the district.
- Attend campus‑level meetings as specified by the campus principal.
- Model appropriate intervention strategies and assist teachers in providing differentiated instruction.
- Monitor student performance on local and state assessments and assist in the development and refinement of tools, processes, and procedures to enhance student performance.
- Coordinate and collaborate with teachers to analyze campus data and plan focused interventions for students who are struggling.
- Collect and submit data on student progress monthly or as requested by administrators.
- Collect data on instructional practices, strategies, and skills to provide effective feedback and coaching.
- Provide interventions for students who are not successful on district assessments.
- Attend staff development designed to enhance delivery of services.
Other
- Maintain confidentiality.
- Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
- Maintain an appropriate level of technology competence to meet current and future needs.
- Implement alternative methods of instruction as needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Performance will be evaluated in accordance with the Board’s policy on evaluation of teachers and the Texas Teacher Evaluation and Support System (T‑TESS).
Physical and Mental DemandsTools / Equipment Used: Standard office equipment including computer and peripherals.
Posture: Standing, prolonged sitting, occasional kneeling/squatting, bending/stooping, pushing, pulling and twisting.
Motion: Repetitive hand motions; frequent keyboarding and use of mouse; occasional reaching; may also require climbing stairs and reaching over head.
Lifting: Moderate lifting and carrying up to 15 pounds; may require occasional heavy lifting up to 45 pounds.
Environment: May work prolonged or irregular hours; possible district‑wide travel; campus temperature controlled with hard surface floors.
Mental Demands: Work with frequent interruptions; maintain emotional control under stress.
Salary and BenefitsJob Type: Full-Time
Salary: $66,500 per year
The position is federally funded for the current school year. Continuation of the position is contingent upon availability of future funds.
