Role Description The Medical Assistant Instructor is a full-time, on-site role based in Houston, TX. This position is responsible for delivering engaging classroom and lab instruction to medical assistant students, following established curricula and institutional standards. Day-to-day responsibilities include preparing lesson plans, teaching clinical and administrative skills, demonstrating medical procedures, and overseeing hands-on practice in a safe learning environment. The instructor assesses student performance, provides constructive feedback, supports learners through mentoring and tutoring, and maintains accurate records of attendance, grades, and competencies.

The role also involves collaborating with academic leadership to continuously improve course materials, ensuring alignment with industry expectations, accreditation requirements, and best practices in healthcare education.
Qualifications

  • Demonstrated expertise in medical assisting procedures, including clinical skills, patient care techniques, and basic administrative tasks.
  • Ability to plan and deliver clear, structured lessons, using a variety of instructional methods and educational technologies.
  • Strong communication, presentation, and interpersonal skills to effectively engage diverse learners and foster a positive classroom environment.
  • Experience in evaluating student performance, providing feedback, and supporting learner success through coaching or tutoring.
  • Attention to detail and proficiency in maintaining accurate educational records and documentation.
  • Previous experience as a Medical Assistant and, ideally, prior teaching or training experience in a healthcare or academic setting.
  • Certification as a Medical Assistant (e.g., CMA, RMA, CCMA) and knowledge of current best practices and standards in allied health.
  • Minimum of a diploma or certificate in Medical Assisting; an associate or bachelor’s degree in a related field is preferred.

  • Ability to collaborate with faculty and staff, adapt to institutional policies, and contribute to ongoing program improvement.
