Primary
Purpose:
Responsible for providing a program of gross and fine motor activities, rhythmic activities, gymnastics, integrated academic activities, social development, physical activities developing physical fitness and awareness of physical fitness, enforcement of life skills, and knowledge of health and safety, developmentally appropriate for ages Pre‑K through 5th grade. The program is inclusive of the physically and emotionally challenged.
- Minimum of 48 college hours or high school diploma/equivalent plus pass a District Assessment.
- Must hold Educational Aide Certification.
- Must complete 15 hours of professional growth annually, provided and/or approved by the SBISD Health Administrator.
- Ability to work and communicate with children and adults.
- Fluent in English (speaking and writing); bilingual preferred.
- Must perform indoor and outdoor activities.
- Must demonstrate activities that involve varied materials, equipment and are physically engaging.
- Acceptable experience with young children.
- Adhere to Texas Education Agency and district policies and procedures.
- Plan cooperatively and on a regular basis with the Health Fitness Specialist.
- Create and maintain an environment suitable for Pre‑K through 5th grade, including the physically and emotionally challenged.
- Help supervise, organize and maintain class management systems.
- Assist children in participating in a variety of activities and provide independent instruction.
- Maintain records and perform clerical duties related to health fitness classes.
- Maintain physically and emotionally safe indoor and outdoor environments.
- Prescribe and implement assessment.
- Order and prepare materials and supplies daily.
- Perform other duties as assigned.

- This position requires regular in‑person interaction with the public.

- Moving small stacks of items, including textbooks, boxes, equipment and other campus equipment.
