The Department of Physics and Astronomy at Rice University in Houston, Texas, invites applications for a tenure-track faculty position in the area of experimental atomic, molecular, or opticalphysics, focusing on quantum science which encompasses quantum information processing, quantum sensing, quantum networks, quantumtransduction, quantum many-body physics, and quantum simulation.
The ideal candidate will intellectually connect AMO physics totopics in condensed matter and quantum information. We seek an outstanding scientist whose research will complement and extendexisting quantum activities within the Department and across the University. In addition to developing an independent and vigorousresearch program, the successful applicant will be expected toteach, on average, one undergraduate or graduate course each semester and contribute to the service missions of the Department and University.
The Department anticipates making an appointment atthe assistant professor level. A Ph.D. in physics or related fieldis required by July 1, 2027.
