Pastor Of Students

Our growing congregation is searching for an awesome Pastor of Students to work with middle schoolers, high schoolers and college students! In this role, you will be responsible for spreading the gospel, building community and discipling an important part of God’s kingdom. This is a full-time position in an active and thriving congregation. If you want to participate in a kingdom-building church, serving people locally and globally, while developing your skills and career as a minister, then this position may be right for you.

Deliver engaging, Spirit-filled lessons to students in middle school, high school and college.

Meet students where they are and model caring and empathic inclusivity. Create a welcoming environment at services and events.

Organize and plan events and services. Collaborate with other ministers and adult volunteers for smooth execution.

Be a pastor to students during times of need. Mentor and provide appropriate guidance.

Work with the Education Minister to develop a team of adult volunteers from within the congregation.

Our student ministry is known for developing young leaders to go out and spread the gospel. Mentor and guide young people who are answering the call.

Ordination or licensing as a pastor under Baptist General Convention Texas (BGCT) standards.

Degree in Theology, Biblical Studies, Children’s Education, or a related field from an accredited institution.

Proven experience in youth ministry and spiritual leadership.

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Proficient in organizational and administrative tasks.

Proficient in use of technology, and commitment to keep abreast of current trends.

Sugar Land Baptist is a diverse congregation on the southwest side of Houston. Our church family includes many nationalities and ages, reflecting the makeup of our community. The people here are passionate about Jesus, and active in the way we love our neighbors. Davey, our Pastor of Education, describes our church as a “Can do!” church. When there is a need, God calls us to move and we answer that call.

Currently, we have a hole in our Student Ministry and we are aching to fill that need. We are meeting regularly to find the right person to fill this very important role.
