Control Room Operator
We are looking for a Control Room Operator to join our Power Plant team in Pecos, Texas. As a Control Room Operator, you will be responsible for monitoring and controlling power plant systems to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable plant operations. You will play a critical role in real-time decision-making, coordinating closely with other maintenance and operations personnel to maintain continuous energy production for our engine power plant in Pecos, Texas.
The ideal candidate for this position will have at least 2 years of experience in Logistics, warehousing or supply chain management, excellent verbal and written communication skills and strong attention to detail.
As a Control Room Operator, you will focus on these responsibilities:
- Operate, monitor, and control plant systems (e.g., SCADA/DCS) to ensure safe, reliable, and continuous energy production in accordance with operational plans.
- Execute plant start-up, shutdown, and switching activities while responding effectively to alarms, disturbances, and emergency situations.
- Monitor system performance, identify abnormalities, and take corrective actions in a timely manner.
- Maintain accurate operational logs, reports, and performance records, ensuring effective shift handovers and communication.
- Coordinate with maintenance teams to support preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Ensure compliance with all safety, quality, and environmental standards and procedures.
- Promote a safe, clean, and well-organized control room and plant environment.
To be successful in this role, we expect you to have:
- 1+ year of experience operating in a control room within an industrial plant environment.
- Working knowledge of SCADA, DCS, and/or PLC systems (alarms, trending, system controls).
- Understanding of plant operations including start-up, synchronization, load management, and shutdown processes.
- Familiarity with auxiliary systems (e.g., compressed air, cooling systems, fuel/lubrication systems, emissions control).
- Experience using Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS), such as IBM Maximo.
- Strong attention to detail and ability to make decisions under pressure in real-time operations.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Accurate record-keeping and reporting capability.
- Technical diploma in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (or equivalent) preferred.
- Willingness to work in shifts, including nights and weekends.
