Job Summary
The ROCC Operator will be responsible for 24x7 monitoring and control of Repsol’s renewable generation assets across the U.S. The role is based in the remote‑operations control center (ROCC) located in downtown Houston, TX, and requires the operator to ensure safe and reliable operations while coordinating with internal and external teams such as field operations, maintenance contractors, regional transmission organizations, and independent system operators (RTO/ISO).
The position is scheduled on a shift rotation, including nights, holidays, and weekends.
- Operate real‑time 24/7 control center functions to maintain safety, operability, and grid reliability.
- Categorize incidents, perform initial troubleshooting, and escalated issues (alarms, faults, abnormal operations) using enterprise SCADA and CMMS applications.
- Resolve faults and alarms through remote or field resets and coordinate with field personnel for safe and reliable operations.
- Coordinate with RTO/ISO and regional transmission organizations, enter and manage work orders, and ensure traceability of all plant activities.
- Make timely notifications to scheduling coordinators, transmission/grid operators for derates or planned outages.
- Create and maintain documentation including operating procedures, turnover documentation, work instructions, and alarm lists.
- Ensure safe control of substation switching equipment and generators, and execute emergency response procedures in accordance with safety plans.
- Manual override of grid instructions/curtailments when AGC system failures occur.
- Submit outage and derate notifications to external entities via required RTO/ISO applications.
- Analyze plant historical data, draft summary reports, and monitor voltage deviations to correct where necessary.
- Support grid reliability using voltage monitoring tools and curtailment reliability tools, correcting abnormal operations.
- Perform all tasks during construction and commissioning of new plants.
- 3+ years of experience in power system operations, power production, or related energy operations.
- Experience with SCADA user interfaces or HMIs.
- Experience with renewable generation (wind, PV, BESS) is preferred.
- Experience in power generation or transmission control centers is preferred.
- Ability to draft and review standard operating procedures, checklists, and specifications.
- Proficiency in creating summary reports for technical and non‑technical audiences.
- Willingness to work shifts (days and nights), including holidays and weekends, and experience with 12‑hour Dupont schedule.
- Experience with one or more ISO/RTOs such as ERCOT, SPP, PJM, or NYISO is preferred.
- NERC certification and regional/ISO‑specific certification are a plus.
- Ability to work in high‑pressure environments.

- Mentor and train junior team members.
- Effective communication in English (oral & written);
Spanish (oral & written) preferred.
2‑year technical degree, military experience in a technical field, or equivalent industry experience is acceptable.
