Position: Manager, Development (West)

Job Summary

Repsol is seeking a Manager, Development to advance utility‑scale wind, solar, and energy storage projects in the Western U.S. from the project identification stage through start of construction. Candidates will focus on a geographic area based on experience and company needs. The role requires direct experience in utility‑scale onshore wind and solar development, with knowledge of site screening, land acquisition, permitting, resource assessment, interconnection coordination, and construction‑readiness activities.

The position reports to the Western Region Vice President and is hybrid, with Houston preferred.

Key Responsibilities
  • Advance one or more priority projects to construction‑ready status
    • Negotiate land rights such as surface leases, easements, crossing agreements, and mineral waivers.
    • Secure all necessary local, state, and federal permits and authorizations.
    • Secure local agreements for tax abatement, road use, decommissioning, community benefits, or other local matters.
    • Work with Engineering and Construction to progress technology selection, project design, and engineering.
    • Manage the transition from development to construction.
  • Represent Repsol in the field and within project communities
    • Engage landowners and community stakeholders through discussions and meetings.
    • Establish and maintain positive relationships with community stakeholders.
    • Create and maintain project control tools such as budgets, schedules, land status maps, and databases.
    • Contribute to strategic pipeline growth by identifying new greenfield wind, solar, and energy storage opportunities and supporting M&A due diligence.
    • Perform regional market and competition analysis to inform prospecting strategy.
    • Collaborate with Interconnection Team to submit and manage interconnection requests and monitor the queue.
    • Work with Energy Assessment Team to implement resource measurement campaigns.
    • Support Origination and Finance Teams with commercial marketing, financial analysis, and project financing.
    • Ensure all project documentation is organized and maintained for financing.
    • Prepare periodic reports to management on project status and other requested information.
    • Manage project‑level expenditures and invoice processing.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Travel approximately 50% of the time; remote candidates must travel to Houston regularly.
Education / Experience

Bachelor’s Degree required.

Minimum of 4 years of project development experience in the energy industry, preferably with direct renewable energy project development. Equivalent complex, multi‑stakeholder project management experience from other industries is encouraged.
