DEPCO Power Systems is seeking an experienced Lead Industrial Generator Technician / Technical Shop Leader to join our Houston operations. This is a hands-on working foreman opportunity for an accomplished generator technician who enjoys solving complex technical problems, mentoring other technicians, and helping lead the daily operations of a high-performing shop. This is not a desk-based management position.
What You’ll Do- Lead the diagnosis and resolution of complex mechanical, electrical, fuel, cooling, lubrication, and control-system issues.
- Diagnose, repair, rebuild, inspect, test, and commission industrial and marine power-generation equipment.
- Perform load-bank testing, startup verification, and final equipment validation.
- Mentor and coach technicians to become stronger diagnosticians and troubleshooters.
- Promote safety, accountability, quality workmanship, and continuous technical improvement.
- Help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and according to DEPCO Power Systems’ quality standards.
Candidates must have significant hands-on experience diagnosing and repairing commercial or industrial power-generation equipment
, including industrial standby generators, commercial marine generators, or comparable heavy-duty diesel-powered electrical-generation systems.
- Diesel and natural-gas engines
- Generator controls, governors, ECMs, and ECUs
- Fuel, cooling, lubrication, electrical, and control systems
- Automatic transfer switches and switch gear
- Protective shutdown systems and electrical diagnostics
- Generator-end voltage changes, breaker replacement, and control-panel programming
Experience with major equipment manufacturers such as Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler, MTU, Multiquip, Detroit Diesel, Northern Lights, Cummins Onan Marine, or similar systems is strongly preferred.
Experience in either industrial or commercial marine power generation is required. Experience in both is highly desirable.
