Human Insights Consulting has been retained by DEPCOPower Systems to identify an exceptional Shop Foreman / Technical Shop Leader to serve as the company's Shop Foreman and technical mentor for its Houston operations.

This is not a desk-based management position – It’s aworking foreman opportunity for an experienced industrial generator technician to remain hands-on in the shop, while mentoring technicians, solving complex technical challenges, and helping guide the daily operation of ahigh-performing shop.

What You'll Do

  • Provide technical leadership on complex mechanical, electrical,fuel, cooling, lubrication, and control-system issues, all while mentoring and coaching the technicians.
  • Mentor and coach technicians, helping them become stronger diagnosticians and troubleshooters.
  • Diagnose, repair, rebuild, inspect, test, and commission industrial and marine power generation equipment.
  • Perform load-bank testing, startup verification, and final equipment validation.
  • Promote accountability, safety, workmanship, and continuous technical improvement.
  • Help ensure projects are completed safely, efficiently, and to DEPCOPower Systems' high standards of quality.

Requirements

Required Technical Skills

Demonstrated experience diagnosing and repairing commercialor industrial power generation equipment, including industrial standby generators, commercial marine generators, or comparable heavy-duty diesel-powered electrical generation systems.

  • Advanced troubleshooting experience with diesel engines, natural gas engines, generators, transfer switches, switch gear,and related power generation equipment.
  • Strong working knowledge of diesel and natural gas generator systems, including fuel, cooling, lubrication, electrical, and control systems.
  • Ability to change generator-end voltages, replace breakers, and reprogram generator control panels.
  • Strong working knowledge of generator controls,governors, ECMs, ECUs, protective shutdown systems, and electrical diagnostics.
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair major industrial generator equipment, including Caterpillar, Cummins, Kohler,MTU, Multiquip (MQ), Detroit Diesel, and similar power generation systems; and/or
  • Demonstrated ability to diagnose and repair major marine generator equipment, including Northern Lights, Kohler Marine, CATMarine, MTU Marine, and Cummins Onan Marine, and similar marine power generation systems.

Experience in at least one of these two sectors—industrial power generation or marine power generation—is required. Experience in both sectors is highly desirable.
