The role of the Safety Technician helps ensure that the different work areas of the production are safe for the employees. Their role is primarily one of prevention: stopping injuries and accidents before they happen, especially those that could lead to harm and illness. Safety technicians are also charged with protecting damage to property and any on-site equipment. Safety Technician must act as a resource for coworkers about how to uphold regulatory safety standards and complete tasks while limiting risk of bodily injury.
Share knowledge with their team by conducting training and creating informational materials that they post around the workplace. Also, handle administrative aspects of workplace safety like applying for permits, purchasing safety equipment, and investing in designs that limit risk. They confirm that all their employees have the appropriate certifications to operate heavy machinery and set standards for testing and maintenance to prevent dangerous malfunctions.
DESCRIPTIONIncident management and tracking data Assist with ergonomics assessments and manage the Emergency Plan.
Conducts work site surveys and daily facility inspections to ensure facility and procedural compliance with applicable OSHA regulations.
Managing documentation and reporting of safety related records and materials
Participates in the Job Safety Analysis (JSA’s) process and helps ensure completion of high quality and documented Risk Assessments Safety orientation and training of employees and subcontractors
Reports safety violations to appropriate authorities to ensure that issues are addressed in a timely manner
Working in a wide variety of spaces, including offices and production
Evaluating equipment to ensure that workers and managers adhere to government regulations
Responsibilities will include researching regulations and informing management of changes and assisting in updating SOPsInvestigates and addresses Safety related complaints from the employees
Provide support to company’s safety objectives and goals.
Generates and recommends solutions and action plans to the identified hazards and risks in the workplace.
Develop and review Health and Safety policies and procedures,COMPETENCIES: Able to interact and communicate with others (English and Spanish).Working knowledge of basic building maintenance
Must be flexible and quickly adjust to changes in job demand
Dependable and Punctual Understanding and following all appropriate government rules, standards, and regulations
Finding solutions that serve to combat and control workplace hazards
Using technical skills to operate computers or testing equipment
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Mental alertness to identify and react to machine process, quality and safety issues.
Ability to be organized, multitask and keep up in a fast-paced environment.
Detail-oriented with a focus on producing high-quality output in a timely and efficient manner.
Must be knowledgeable of GMPs, FSSC 22000:2005 and HACCP.Bachelor’s degree in Environmental Science, Safety Management, or related field.
Familiarity with ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001 standards.
Strong understanding of the legal health and safety guidelines relevant to the industry.
Bilingual is a plus.
EXPERIENCE2+ years of experience in a HSE role, Safety Technician, ideally within the industry or a closely related field.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS Ability to sit for long periods, lift up to 50 pounds, and perform repetitive tasks.
Ability to operate basic tools and measuring devices (tape measure, scale, etc.).Ability of repetitive reaching, bending, walking, pushing, pulling, kneeling, carrying, going up and down ladders/steps.
WORKING CONDITIONS Work is performed primarily on the manufacturing floor, which may involve exposure to loud noises, machinery, high temperatures and chemicals.
Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) is required.
SCHEDULE Night Shift, 6pm to 6am or Day Shift, 6am to 6pm.
