Position: SMT Equipment Maintenance Engineer, Houston, TX 77064

Overview

Spire Tek International is hiring an experienced SMT Equipment Maintenance Engineer to support and optimize SMT production lines for a global electronics manufacturing environment.

In this role, you will be responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and improving SMT equipment performance to ensure stable, efficient, and high-quality production.

Key Responsibilities
  • Perform daily maintenance, calibration, and preventive maintenance on SMT equipment
  • Quickly diagnose equipment failures and perform emergency repairs to minimize downtime
  • Adjust equipment parameters (placement accuracy, solder paste printing, etc.) to improve yield and efficiency
  • Participate in equipment modification and performance improvement projects
  • Prepare equipment maintenance SOPs and failure analysis reports
  • Train technicians and collaborate with Production, Process, and Quality teams
  • Familiarity with equipment brands listed (Fuji NXT, Universal, GKG printers, Heller ovens, AOI/SPI, AnDa, Speedline, Asymtek, etc.)
Qualifications

Education

  • Associate’s degree or higher in Electronic Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Automation, or related fields

Experience

  • 2+ years of hands-on SMT equipment maintenance experience
  • Familiarity with mainstream SMT equipment brands
  • Background in consumer electronics or automotive electronics manufacturing is a plus

Technical Skills

  • Strong understanding of SMT mechanical and electrical systems
  • Servo motors, pneumatics, sensors, PCB conveyor systems
  • Proficient with diagnostic tools (multimeters, oscilloscopes) and electrical schematics
  • Ability to quickly learn SMT control software and perform basic PLC troubleshooting
  • Strong communication skills and safety awareness
