Assistant Structural Engineer
The Assistant Structural Engineer will work under the supervision of a licensed professional engineer to assist project teams in creating world‑class designs for new projects, alterations, and redevelopments across a variety of sectors including power, process, corporate, healthcare, pipeline, airports, institutional, industrial, manufacturing, government, and military facilities. The engineer will collaborate with the project team throughout the design and construction process, adapting structural plans according to budget constraints, design factors, or client needs.
Responsibilities- Assist in the structural design of projects from conceptual phase through design completion.
- Modify and review production drawings for projects such as power plants, process facilities, industrial facilities, healthcare facilities, airports, educational institutions, commercial, governmental, and military facilities.
- Design structural components in accordance with project manager specifications.
- Apply basic knowledge of structural engineering concepts, principles, practices, codes, and procedures.
- Research and compile project‑related data as requested by project managers.
- Correct and update drawings provided by senior engineers, ensuring accuracy across multiple CAD‑related software.
- Support client presentations, shop drawing reviews, and contract administration for specified facility types.
- Perform field inspections, measurements, or calculations for public and private clients.
- Comply with all company policies and standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering or a related ABET‑accredited program.
- Or Bachelor’s degree in Structural Engineering Technology with successful FE exam completion.
- Prior internship and/or related consulting experience preferred.
- Basic knowledge of standard structural engineering techniques, principles, and procedures.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Analytical, methodical approach in a quantitative problem‑solving environment with demonstrated critical‑thinking skills.
- Proficient computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite). Basic knowledge of structural analysis programs (e.g., RISA), AutoCAD, and BIM (Revit, Tekla).
- Strong attention to detail, facilitation, teamwork, organization, and problem‑solving skills.
- Demonstrated leadership skills.
- Engineers in Training (EIT) certification preferred.
- Minimum 3.0 GPA strongly preferred.
- Involvement on campus or in the community preferred.
- Candidates must be legally authorized to work permanently in the country where this position is located.
