Stantec’s growing Industrial Water practice is seeking a highly motivated Senior Process Engineer to join our Houston, TX team. The candidate will support project proposal and delivery processes throughout the US and Canada, focusing on the US South Region in markets such as Manufacturing, Upstream and Downstream Oil & Gas, Chemical Processing, Power, Food & Beverage, Advanced Manufacturing, Datacenters, Mining, and Pharma.

The role involves networking with a wide array of engineering, environmental, water, and wastewater professionals on both technical project delivery and related business development initiatives, and leading process evaluation and design efforts across all phases of the project lifecycle.

• Perform business development/application tasks and collaborate with staff to increase project wins and develop long‑lasting client relationships. Routine tasks include participating in business line teams to manage and develop proposals.
• Serve as client‑facing contact for business development meetings, project scoping, and presentations.
• Develop scope of work and labor hour estimates.
• Create division‑of‑responsibility (DOR) matrices.
• Collaborate with multiple business lines to identify opportunities.
• Conduct quality reviews.
• Prepare design basis documents.
• Perform engineering calculations, including mass and energy balances.
• Review regulatory requirements.
• Produce engineering documents, specifications, and drawings.
• Evaluate technology‑based solutions.
• Compile engineering reports.
• Conduct feasibility studies.
• Develop opinions of probable cost (OPC) for both capital and O&M costs.
• Present to clients, regulatory agencies, and project stakeholders.
• Lead complex engineering design tasks on assigned water, power, and industrial process projects through collaboration with a wide range of technical disciplines.
• Engage in the development of designs through sketches, electronic models, diagrams, and other visual formats.
• Assist project managers with scope, budget, staffing, and schedule management.
• Lead others in developing and coordinating project construction specifications.
• Conduct or coordinate quality assurance/control on assigned projects and facilitate independent technical reviews.
• Review contractor/vendor submittals for adherence to contract documents and industry standards.
• Participate in the permitting process, meeting with clients, contractors, stakeholders, and agency personnel.
• Coordinate with regulatory review to seek final approval.
• Assist in updating project design standards and guidelines, preparing abstracts and technical papers.
• Mentor and supervise staff, supporting the development of high‑performing project teams.
• Assist with business development pursuits, including proposal preparation and interview participation.
• Interact with clients and management regarding project scope, schedule, and budget status.
• Share design expertise and apply knowledge of engineering best practices.
• Lead and manage preparation of construction documents, including plans, specifications, and cost estimates.
• Research and understand regulatory and other drivers impacting individual projects.
• Ensure project needs are met in a timely and effective manner.
• Manage teams when required.
• Perform duties of a similar nature and level as assigned.
• Work effectively in a high‑performance team environment without direct supervision.
