PositionSummary
As an Electrical Engineer, you'll be a key member of the New Product Development core team and play a critical role in the success of prototyping, testing, and commissioning new products and service offerings for our commercial business units in robotics, subsea applications, material handling automation, and in people mover applications, among others. This position will be based in Houston, Texas, and travel requirements for customer site visits and product testing will be up to 5%. Typical hybrid schedule of 3 days in office and 2 days flex depending on product testing needs.
- Work with multi-disciplined teams to support the development of system level architecture and execute the builds of these products across the company.
- Focus on communications and network telemetry.
- Execute proof of concepts (POCs) for streamlining new developments prior to manufacturing.
- Work closely with Mechanical and Manufacturing teams to build and test first article units.
- Attention to detail in testing, recording, and documentation for POCs and revisions of products.
- Prepare and participate in design reviews.

- Bachelor of Science or advanced degree from an accredited university in Electrical/Electronic Engineering (or related field/curriculum having an Electrical concentration, such as Controls Engineering or Robotics Engineering). Commensurate experience will be considered.
- Minimum 5 years practical technical experience in the creative (Electrical) engineering process, including participation in the concept, analysis, simulation, design, drawing, assembly, integration, troubleshooting, and testing of complex electrical, electromechanical, and automated/robotic systems.
- Minimum 2 years Network architecture design including LANs and IP schemes.
- Minimum 2 years Network troubleshooting with tools such as Wireshark, Putty, angry IP, etc.
- Minimum 2 years of Electrical drawing/drafting experience - accurately create drawings using AutoCAD.
- Minimum 2 years of experience in revision control procedures and factory acceptance testing documentation updates to evolving project requirements.
- Proficiency in reading detailed schematics, wiring diagrams, cable drawings, system cabling and block diagrams, etc.
- Proficiency in proper use and application of various standard electronic test equipment, e.g., DMM/multimeters, power supplies, oscilloscopes, fiber lights, etc.
- Must be a US citizen or legal permanent resident.
- Proficient with Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel).
- Experience interfacing, translating, and integrating various data communications signaling, such as Ethernet, Fiber, USB, MQTT, Srial communications protocols.
- Experience selecting and integrating Commercial Off-the-Shelf (COTS) equipment to interoperate well together, including designing necessary interfaces.
- Good working knowledge and experience selecting and sizing current and latest available electrical and electronic components and wiring devices, such as signal conditioning, power supplies, control devices, switching devices, SSRs, safety devices, terminal blocks, connectors, DIN rail, wiring, cabling, marshalling, dressing, etc.
- Experience selecting and interfacing components of industrial quality embedded microprocessor, single-board computer (SBC) based control systems, PLCs, including defining necessary signals, sensors, and actuators, and selecting appropriate I/O; may also require some custom electrical designs where COTS components are either inadequate or unavailable.
- Experience with DC power systems design (24, 48 ,400-800
VDC). - Experience with low-medium voltage, single- and 3-phase power systems (120, 240, 480, 3000+ VAC).
- Calculate and estimate system power and energy requirements.
- Experience designing, wiring, cabling, grounding for minimizing electrical noise and EMI, as appropriate.
