Location: Houston, TX – Regional Travel Required (30-40%)
We are actively hiring a Senior Wireless/RF Systems Engineer to serve as the go-to technical authority for a growing technology solutions provider in the Houston region. In this field-facing role, you’ll collaborate closely with the sales and account management teams, delivering expert-level support to industrial clients by advising on complex wireless infrastructure solutions. This position will involve regular travel to customer sites across the greater Houston area (30–40%) to conduct assessments, design resilient wireless plant networks, and ensure seamless integration of RF technologies within OT/IT environments.
Key Responsibilities
Onsite Technical Consulting & Assessments
- Travel with account managers to client facilities—such as petrochemical plants and oil & gas refineries—to provide pre-sales technical guidance.
- Conduct detailed indoor/outdoor Wi-Fi and RF surveys using tools like Ekahau and Air Magnet, with an emphasis on challenging industrial environments.
Design, Configuration, and Commissioning
- Architect and implement large-scale Wireless Plant Networks (WPN), integrating outdoor mesh access points, wireless LAN controllers, firewalls, industrial tablets, and network hardware.
- Lead system validation activities including factory acceptance testing (FAT), site acceptance testing (SAT), and full commissioning of wireless networks in complex industrial settings.
Secure Network Integration
- Design secure wireless architectures that integrate into customers' Process Control Domains (PCDs) with a strong emphasis on regulatory compliance and cybersecurity best practices.
- Collaborate with OT and IT teams to harden wireless deployments against evolving security threats.
Enablement & Support
- Deliver internal and client-facing training sessions covering best practices in RF design, Wi-Fi troubleshooting, and cybersecurity in wireless systems.
- Serve as a resource for escalated technical support, documentation, and process improvement initiatives.
Education & Background
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Information Technology, or a similar field—or equivalent hands-on experience.
- At least 5 years in a senior-level Wireless or RF Engineering role with proven success in industrial and enterprise environments.
Technical Proficiency
- Deep knowledge of wireless protocols (802.11 a/b/g/n/ac/ax) and RF propagation in high-interference environments.
- Experienced in LAN/WAN topologies and secure network infrastructure configuration (routers, switches, firewalls).
- Familiar with process control and industrial automation environments, particularly regarding wireless integration with OT systems.
Preferred Certifications
- CCNA / CCNP (Enterprise or Security)
- CWNA and CWDP or similar wireless certifications
Additional Qualities
- Strong communication skills and the ability to translate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Resourceful, self-directed, and comfortable working in dynamic, field-oriented environments.
- Practical experience with cybersecurity principles in mixed IT/OT environments is a strong plus.
Why Join Us?
This is more than a desk job. It’s a dynamic opportunity to shape wireless strategies across some of Houston’s most critical infrastructure sites. You’ll play a visible, high-impact role in modernizing industrial communication networks—delivering real-world solutions with lasting value.
