Qualifications
- 5–6+ years of experience as an Electrical Engineer
- Strong background in controls hardware design
- Experience with PLC hardware selection and architecture
- Ability to design and specify all required electrical and controls components
- Experience building Bills of Material (BOMs) and creating technical documentation
- Ability to independently design systems from concept to completion
- Bachelor’s or graduate degree in Electrical Engineering
- Strong communication skills and a motivated, proactive attitude
- Exposure to power systems or power electronics
- Broader electrical engineering experience beyond controls
- Experience in oil & gas, industrial, chemical plants, mining, or heavy‑equipment environments
- Experience converting conceptual requirements into complete engineered system designs
An Insight Global client in the oil & gas industry is seeking an Electrical Engineer to support the development of electrical and controls hardware systems for next‑generation Production Enhancement technologies. In this role, the engineer will design solutions that improve operational efficiency, reduce costs, and enhance wellsite performance while owning projects from concept through completion. Responsibilities include developing electrical and controls engineering solutions across data acquisition, sensors, PLC hardware, automation, communications, and hazardous‑area electronics;
selecting and specifying all electrical and PLC components for new and existing products; creating BOMs, product specifications, installation instructions, procedures, and test documents; and providing technical leadership throughout the full engineering lifecycle. This role also involves collaborating with 2D/3D drafters for drawing creation, working within SAP and internal Product Data Management systems, and supporting system integration for electrically powered hydraulic fracturing technologies and marine vessel applications.
The engineer will contribute to innovation efforts through invention disclosures and patent-related activities and will travel approximately 10–20% annually to well sites and shipyards to assist with installation, deployment, and troubleshooting.
