Overview
We are seeking a Power System Studies Engineer with strong experience using ETAP to perform electrical system studies for utility, industrial, and commercial power systems. This role focuses on analytical engineering work but also values hands-on understanding of protection and field operations. Candidates who are comfortable supporting or participating in field testing and commissioning activities are highly preferred.
Responsibilities- Perform power system studies using ETAP, including:
- Short-circuit and fault analysis
- Arc flash hazard analysis
- Load flow and system modeling
- Develop and maintain accurate one-line diagrams and system models
- Review and validate relay protection schemes and relay settings
- Coordinate protective device settings with utility and customer requirements
- Prepare clear, professional engineering reports and study documentation
- Support commissioning activities and resolve system performance issues
- Collaborate with field technicians, relay engineers, and project managers
- Provide technical support during construction, startup, and troubleshooting phases
- Participate in or support field testing, commissioning, and startup activities
- Assist with protective relay testing, verification, and troubleshooting
- Interface directly with clients during field activities or site visits
- Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering or a related field
- 3+ years of experience performing power system studies
- Strong hands-on experience with ETAP
- Working knowledge of protective relaying and relay settings
- Familiarity with utility, industrial, or data center power systems
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings, one-lines, and schematics
- Experience with testing or commissioning environments
- Field testing or startup experience (relay, breaker, transformer, or switch gear testing)
- Experience with SKM, Easy Power, or similar tools (in addition to ETAP)
- Primarily office-based engineering role
- Occasional travel to job sites for commissioning, testing support, or client meetings
- Opportunity to work closely with both engineering and field operations teams
