The RoleThis is an opportunity for a mid-level Geotechnical Engineer (4-8 years' experience) to play a key role in the design and delivery of complex geotechnical projects. The successful candidate will be involved in advanced analyses, engineering design, and technical oversight while gaining exposure to a diverse portfolio of projects with varying subsurface and foundation challenges.
You will work closely with senior engineers and project managers while also taking ownership of design tasks, mentoring junior staff, and contributing to client-facing deliverables.
Key Responsibilities- Perform and lead geotechnical engineering analyses and design for complex projects, including foundations, retaining systems, excavations, and ground improvement
- Develop geotechnical recommendations based on subsurface investigations, laboratory testing, and engineering judgment
- Prepare and review technical reports, calculations, and design deliverables
- Coordinate with structural, civil, and construction teams to support integrated design solutions
- Provide technical guidance and mentoring to junior engineers and staff
- Participate in project planning, scope development, and scheduling
- Support client interactions and contribute to proposal development as needed
- Professional Engineer (PE) license (Texas or ability to obtain through reciprocity)
- Master's degree in Geotechnical Engineering or Civil Engineering with a geotechnical focus
- 4-8 years of professional geotechnical engineering experience
- Strong background in complex geotechnical design rather than purely field or testing-focused roles
- Experience working on a variety of project types and soil conditions
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced foundation design (shallow and deep foundations)
- Excavation support systems, retaining walls, and earth-retention design
- Coordination with structural engineers on load transfer and constructability
- Experience in the Gulf Coast or similar subsurface environments
