FLNG is seeking a highly skilled and detail-oriented Senior Mechanical Integrity Engineer to join the Static Engineering Team within the Facilities Engineering Organization. The ideal candidate will specialize in Fitness-for-Service (FFS) and Risk-Based Inspection (RBI) methodologies, ensuring the structural integrity, safety, and reliability of critical plant equipment. This role is vital for identifying potential risks, optimizing inspection strategies, and ensuring compliance with industry standards.
This will include development of work processes and engineering standards to define associated inspection intervals, material selection, torque values/specifications, NDE technology and in some situations will act with the FLNG Technical Authority (TA) designation for Mechanical Integrity and static equipment. Provide oversight of the ongoing static equipment monitoring and inspection program in collaboration with operations, maintenance and regulatory stakeholders.
Location/Travel InformationThis position is based primarily at the Quintana Island Liquefaction Facility (LQF) and/or Pre-Treatment Facility (PTF) with support to other off-site locations in the Freeport area as required. Occasional travel to vendor facilities or engineering offices may be required. This position requires the incumbent to hold a valid, unexpired driver license at all times in order to perform the essential functions of the job.
PrimaryDuties and Responsibilities/Essential Functions
- Develop equipment strategies and maintenance plans to ensure continuous improvement.
- Participate and support internal/external MI related audits, risk surveys, and regulatory inquiries.
- Provide SME support and guidance to Operations, Engineering and Maintenance.
- Assist with degradation mechanism identification and analysis as part of routine inspection recommendations and developing RBI programs.
- Maintain and communicate current code, regulatory requirements, and RAGEGEP pertaining to MI.
- Champion developing, improving, and implementing inspection programs to maximize the on-stream time of major equipment.
- Support Technical Authority regarding the application of various industry codes and standards (e.g. ASME, API, PHMSA) and assessment methods.
- Demonstrated ability to use data from systems such as SAP, GE APM, etc. to enable more advanced optimization of work scope, cost/benefit, frequency, etc.
- Support long range planning and repair prioritization initiatives as they relate to the site's static equipment and fixed equipment integrity programs.
- Analyze issues identified during inspection programs, to include development of mitigation strategies with respect to materials issues (corrosion, cracking, and clamps etc.).
- Update equipment strategies in accordance with best industry practice, specifically utilizing test and inspection data. Further, update Engineering Standards to define equipment MI and metallurgical requirements.
- Deliver process and programs to allow for inspection data to be better integrated into and accessed from the best available software and technologies.
- Develop and maintain NDT/NDE procedures to ensure compliance with company specifications and RAGAGEP pertaining to piping, pressure vessels, and tanks.
- Collect data for regulatory reports, key performance indicators, engineering surveillance health monitoring tasks.
- Failure analysis and recommendations regarding laboratory testing, engineering assessments and recommendations based on associated findings.
- Responsible for supporting regulatory compliance in regard to FLNG static equipment through collaboration with Operations, Maintenance, Regulatory, and Legal Functions.
- Assess maintenance and third-party inspection findings and provide condition clear recommendations following associated industry standards and internal requirements.
- Participate and/or lead root cause analysis involving static equipment.
- Mentor and guide other engineers in the areas of Mechanical Integrity Engineering.
Minimum
Education Required:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and/or Materials Engineering.
Minimum Experience
Required:
Minimum of 7 years mechanical or metallurgical engineering specific to static equipment in an industrial setting. Preferably related to cryogenic, petrochemical, natural gas and/or other similar types of hydrocarbon processing. Practical experience with cryogenic mechanisms of fatigue and failure. Strong experience with inspection, testing and maintenance program development. Including risk-based inspection and associated program development.
Preferred Education: Master of Science Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Metallurgical and/or Materials Engineering.
Preferred Experience: 12 years of MI Engineering. Preferably related to cryogenic, LNG, petrochemical, natural gas and/or other similar types of hydrocarbon processing. Support for a large-scale LNG operating facility. Professional Engineer…
