Senior Mechanical Estimator – Facility Construction
Location:
Spring or Baytown, TX (Gulf Coast)
We are partnering with a leading pipeline and facilities construction contractor to hire experienced Senior Mechanical Estimators supporting midstream and downstream infrastructure projects.
This role plays a critical part in developing accurate, competitive estimates across facility mechanical scopes including piping, welding, and equipment installation. The estimator will collaborate closely with operations, engineering, and project leadership to deliver buildable, profitable bids.
Key Responsibilities- Develop complete mechanical estimates from bid packages, drawings, and specifications
- Perform detailed material and quantity takeoffs for piping, valves, structural components, and equipment installs
- Build labor models using production rates, crew compositions, and historical cost data
- Review P&IDs, isometrics, and mechanical drawings for constructability and scope gaps
- Solicit, evaluate, and level vendor and subcontractor pricing
- Identify risks, assumptions, exclusions, and proposal clarifications
- Support value engineering and alternative construction strategies
- Prepare estimate summaries and cost breakdowns for internal review
- Partner with operations and project teams to validate installation methods and labor assumptions
- Support project handoff by communicating estimate logic, quantities, and cost drivers

- Budgetary and conceptual estimates
- Time & material proposals
- FEL and early-phase estimates
- 5+ years of mechanical estimating experience in oil & gas, midstream, or industrial construction
- Strong knowledge of piping systems, welding, and equipment installation
- Ability to develop labor build-ups and unit-rate estimates
- Experience interpreting P&IDs, isometrics, and mechanical drawings
- Proficiency with estimating software such as InEight, Heavy Bid, Bluebeam, or similar
- Advanced Excel skills for cost modeling and analysis
- Preferred Qualifications
- Field experience in mechanical or piping construction
- Experience supporting compressor stations or gas processing facilities
- Familiarity with ASME, API, and industrial construction standards
- Exposure to both greenfield and brownfield projects
Office-based estimating role with collaboration across operations and project teams. Hybrid schedule of four days in office and one day remote.
