Job Description:
- The Supplier Quality Engineer will be responsible for product and process qualification, supplier quality oversight, and continuous improvement initiatives for fabricated and complex assemblies.
- This role ensures that critical-to-quality requirements, customer specifications, and regulatory standards are effectively implemented within supplier processes.
- The ideal candidate will collaborate cross-functionally to manage nonconformances, drive corrective actions, and support serial production readiness.
- Experience in product and process qualification for fabricated and complex assemblies.
- Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Experience conducting quality system, product, and process audits.
- Experience leading root cause analysis and FMEA activities.
- Experience managing supplier deviations and nonconformances.
- Define and execute product and process qualifications to ensure readiness for serial production.
- Review and approve Manufacturing Process Plans, Product and Process Quality Plans, control plans, and inspection plans.
- Ensure critical-to-quality, customer, and regulatory requirements are translated into supplier process controls and inspection methods.
- Validate First Article Inspection and ongoing product verification activities.
- Monitor process capability and drive corrective actions when performance targets are not met.
- Manage and approve Supplier Deviation Requests with proper risk assessment and documentation.
- Lead evaluation and disposition of supplier nonconformances in coordination with Engineering, Manufacturing, Sourcing, and Field teams.
- Lead containment, rework, and recovery actions at supplier facilities and assembly sites.
- Drive closure and documentation of quality issues.
- Lead root cause analysis and design/process FMEA to implement corrective and preventive actions.
- Conduct supplier quality audits to ensure compliance with quality management system requirements and industry standards.
- Ability to read assembly drawings and blueprints.
- Experience with custom fabrication.
- Experience with Gas Metal Arc Welding (GMAW).
- Experience with Gas Tungsten Arc Welding (GTAW).
- Background in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field.
- Experience with Production Part Approval Process (PPAP).
- Quality auditing experience.
- Ability to work core business hours with flexibility as needed.
- Ability to travel to supplier and site locations as required.
- Certified Welding Inspector certification preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to lead cross-functional quality initiatives.
- Strong documentation and reporting skills.
- Attention to detail and compliance-focused mindset.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills.
- Degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology or related field preferred.
- Equivalent relevant experience may be considered.
