About the job
The Project Manager role is responsible for executing capital equipment projects on time and on budget with a strong focus on customer satisfaction. The position involves managing relationships with internal and external stakeholders and suppliers to achieve project expectations. The Project Manager also works closely with colleagues in legal, accounting, order administration, sales, and purchasing roles to ensure compliance with internal processes and customer contracts.
Strong technical and commercial skills are needed for the Project Manager to verify and execute all contractual requirements effectively.
This is a hybrid opportunity based in Houston, TX.
As a part of the team, you will:- Manage capital order projects to meet established project schedule and budget.
- Be responsible for customer satisfaction and project scope, schedule, and budget.
- Review all aspects of the project hand-over package from sales.
- Schedule and direct kickoff and project status meetings.
- Act as the primary contact for customer communication over the course of the project.
- Coordinate documentation submittal/approval process.
- Direct invoicing according to milestone achievement.
- Coordinate installation and startup services.
- Maintain accuracy of order backlog and margin reports within financial reporting tools.
- Coordinate claim activities through the claim support system.
- Develop strong working relationships with customers and sales channels.
- Provide sales support by participating in sales calls and conference meetings with representatives, distributors, end-users, contractors, engineering houses, and other prospective customers to develop concepts, evaluate customer needs, and further the sales process on an as‑needed basis.
- Provide internal technical support to further sales growth and customer satisfaction.
You have a bachelor's degree in mechanical or chemical engineering or a related field, and:
- Minimum 5 years of experience in project engineering or management, preferably with an engineering background.
- Experience with capital equipment in the wastewater treatment industry is highly preferred.
- Experience with in an OEM organization.
- Proficient in MS-Office 365.
- Strong technical, analytical, and commercial skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Commitment to quality service and team collaboration for customer satisfaction.
- Leadership and motivational skills, with the ability to influence without direct authority.
- Proven problem‑solving abilities.
- Articulate, persuasive, and self‑confident with excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Ability to coordinate activities across departments and make data‑driven decisions.
- Self‑directed and decisive.
- Effective application of engineering concepts to support sales and customers.
Alfa Laval offers a competitive salary and full benefits package, including medical/dental/vision/life, 401(k) plan, and more. The base salary for this role is typically $90,000 – $110,000.
