Job Requirements- You have experience analyzing and inspecting fire/life safety protection systems, building features, and related processes and procedures, including designs, to ensure they meet relevant codes and regulations.
- You have experience conducting risks assessments and hazard analyses, creating smoke management plans and emergency egress modeling, and providing recommendations and input to support development of fire/life safety system designs.
- You are comfortable working in large, complex and fast-paced team environments. This includes working directly with safety, engineering, operations, and executive management teams to define, assess, and verify fire/life safety performance across complex systems, ensuring fire/life safety remains a foundational element in every project phase.
- You are comfortable managing and overseeing risk assessments, hazard analyses, and fire/life safety evaluations.
- You enjoy and can travel both in the U.S. and abroad to support fast-paced client engagements.
- Review fire protection, suppression and smoke control system designs and provide recommendations.
- Review design and construction plans to verify compliance with applicable fire/life safety codes and regulations.
- Conduct inspections of differing types of occupancies to identify and quantify fire/life safety-related risks, developing actionable mitigation strategies to reduce potential hazards.
- Review and assess material Flame, Smoke Emission, and Toxicity (FST) data to determine risks to human life, property and environment.
- Review work processes and procedures to identify fire/life safety related risks, developing actionable mitigation started to reduce potential hazards.
- Perform computer simulations for fire growth and human evacuation behavior.
- Investigate fires to determine causes, assessing system performance and improving future safety standards.
- Conduct fire risk assessments and develop fire management plans for existing and new structures.
- Facilitate risk review boards and ensure coordination of safety findings across engineering, operations, and management teams.
- Develop and present fire/life safety risk reports and data visualizations for senior leadership and regulatory stakeholders.
- Interpret and apply safety regulations, standards, and orders to system design, integration, testing, and operations.
- Assess changes to occupancies and fire/life safety systems to determine potential impacts and provided recommendations to ensure fire/life safety is maintained.
- Act as a liaison between client, contractors, and third-party vendors to ensure consistent interpretation and application of fire/life safety standards.
- Bachelor of Science (or greater) in Fire Protection Engineering, Fire Safety Engineering, Fire Protection and Safety Engineering Technology, Mechanical Engineering, or related engineering fields.
- Experience with fire/life safety assessments and inspections, risk management, fire and smoke emission modeling.
- Strong understanding of Safety Management Systems (SMS) and related assurance methodologies.
- Proven ability to interpret technical data, perform analyses, and communicate results effectively to both engineering and executive audiences.
- Excellent communication, documentation, and presentation skills.
- Demonstrated ability to collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams.
