About the role
Job Summary
The Student, Apprentice, or Intern is responsible for supporting administrative or operational tasks while gaining practical experience. This role follows specific instructions and procedures and is designed to provide learning opportunities in a structured environment.
SUMMARY:

- The Product Development group is involved in the design, validation and documentation of new product design and upgrades to existing product ranges. The successful candidate will work on project support as assigned by the Lead Engineer or Project Engineer.
Position is full time during the summer months and a minimum of 20 hours a week during the school year.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION
Training will be given to accomplish the following:
* Drafting support using NX 3D/2D system,
* Engineering support work for projects as assigned,
* Release of drawings / documents through Teamcenter (PLM) & SAP (ERP) systems.
* Calculations in support of Design Work using inhouse calculation tools (pressure boundary and non-pressure boundary)
* 3D printing of scaled pump components for conceptualizing the design, making training aids, and for in house validation testing.
SECONDARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
* Adheres to company and department policies, procedures, and standards
* Demonstrates Sulzer's 4 principals - Seize Opportunities, Own it, Team up, and Create Value
* Supports, cooperates with, and participates in company-wide ESG & EHS Management systems, which includes following all safety, health and environmental policies and procedures. Supports and cooperates in company-wide Quality Management effort.
* Performs other duties as assigned
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
None
QUALIFICATIONS:
* Completion of sophomore or junior year of BS in Mechanical Engineering degree
* Excellent interpersonal, communication and analytical skills.
* Sound computer skills in Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint.
* Experience with 3D Design and 2D Drafting CAD systems
* An Interest in rotating machinery and manufacturing is beneficial.
