Mechanical Design Engineer – HVAC Manufacturing

Location: Houston, TX 77039

Employment Type: Full-Time

About Us

We are a growing HVAC equipment manufacturer seeking a hands‑on Mechanical Design Engineer to support the development of new accessory products and improvements to existing product lines. This role combines product design, testing, and manufacturing support while providing technical leadership to a small engineering team. This position works closely with production and will regularly be on the manufacturing floor and in the test lab.

What

You’ll Do
  • Lead development of HVAC accessory products from concept through production release
  • Design and test electro‑mechanical assemblies including motors, drives, and control circuits
  • Support manufacturing with troubleshooting, root cause analysis, and design improvements
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability, cost, and reliability
  • Collaborate with production, quality, and supply chain teams
  • Mentor junior engineers and designers
  • Manage engineering documentation, drawings, and revisions
Qualifications
  • B.S. in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
  • 3–5 years engineering experience in manufacturing or product development
  • Experience with HVAC equipment, electro‑mechanical systems, or rotating equipment
  • Working knowledge of motors (PSC, EC, single & three‑phase), sensors, and sheet metal assemblies
  • Proficiency in CAD (Inventor or AutoCAD preferred)
  • Strong problem‑solving and project coordination skills
Preferred Experience
  • VFDs, PLCs, and ladder logic
  • Airflow, blowers, and HVAC fundamentals
  • Product testing and validation
  • FEA or performance testing
  • Hands‑on troubleshooting in a production environment
