What role you will play in our team
  • Develop and deploy new technology aimed at step‑change opportunities to improve recovery in deepwater assets
  • Develop proprietary algorithms using physics-based methods and machine learning and supporting experimental validation.
  • Contribute to the commercialization of analysis software and downhole technology solutions in collaboration with third‑party partners
  • The position is located at Exxon Mobil campus in Spring, Texas
What you will do
  • Develop and optimize advanced Python algorithms for fiber optic signal processing and interpretation.
  • Apply physics-based modeling, neural networks, and machine learning to extract insights from complex sensor data.
  • Support experimental design, data acquisition, and analysis for downhole sensing systems.
  • Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to transition prototypes into commercial software products.
  • Document technical workflows, contribute to IP generation, and support technical publications.
About you

Skills and Qualifications

Advanced degree (Ph.D.) in Engineering (Petroleum, Chemical, Mechanical, Electrical)

10+ years of experience in technology development for reservoir engineering

Experience with fiber optic sensing technologies, signal processing, or distributed sensing technologies.

Solid understanding of physics-based modeling and computational methods.

Strong proficiency in Python, including experience with scientific and numerical libraries

Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast‑paced R&D environment.
