Job Description
The Estimator is responsible for planning, coordinating, and directing all estimating functions for area office operations. The role involves managing the estimating team and overseeing the estimation process for commercial construction projects in sectors such as healthcare and higher education.
Responsibilities
+ Lead the self-performed, hard bid, negotiated, and conceptual estimating team.
+ Manage the entire bid process, including subcontractor solicitation, bid document management, and evaluation of subcontractor proposals/bids.
+ Oversee the post-bid process by conducting reviews to verify the scope of work and pricing within established parameters.
+ Review and assist in the preparation and culmination of project estimates and bids.
+ Assign work to subordinates, direct and review their assignments, and ensure the accuracy and completeness of estimates prepared by subordinates.
+ Assist in the preparation of studies, materials and methods, recommendations, and relative cost estimates as required.
+ Support the project and construction management team during pre-design and construction planning, project execution, and upon completion.
+ Meet with client management, staff, and supervisory personnel to introduce services, expertise, and capabilities of the company.
+ Accumulate, evaluate, and document historical cost data, current trends, and construction procedures and methods to keep current with estimating standards and databases.
+ Build relationships with local architects, engineers, and subcontractors to serve as a resource and stay informed of upcoming projects.
+ Notify the management group of upcoming projects' status and approximate timing for company proposal and bid submittals.
+ Assist in the development of area marketing plans and goals, and in developing strategy for management client contacts regarding procurement of work, estimating services, contract negotiation, and future work potential.
Essential Skills
+ Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or a similar field.
+ Proficient in commercial construction, specifically in healthcare and higher education sectors.
+ Strong skills in estimation, construction, and commercial estimating.
+
Experience with Procore software.
+ Knowledge of preconstruction, self-perform, hard bid, RFP, and RFQ processes.

Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in managing and directing an estimating team.
+ Ability to perform duties satisfactorily with reasonable accommodations if needed.
+ Experience in building and maintaining professional relationships with local architects, engineers, and subcontractors.
Work Environment
The work environment is dynamic, with a focus on accountability and lifelong learning. The organization values high standards and does not tolerate mediocrity. The team currently consists of six people, and this role will make it a total of seven. Standard work hours are Monday through Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, five days a week in the office. After a year, there might be more flexibility in the work schedule.
Benefits include 21 days of PTO, seven paid holidays with two floating holidays, and flex time, allowing up to four hours off on a Friday if 40 hours have already been completed.

This is a Permanent position based out of Houston, TX.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $120000.00 - $155000.00/yr.
