Job Description
AXG is partnered with a global leader in the production and marketing of methanol and is seeking a Project Services Specialist
. The Project Services Specialist is a key subject‑matter expert supporting the Projects & Turnarounds (TAR) organization, providing analytical, planning, and project services expertise across manufacturing capital projects and turnaround activities. This role partners closely with the Director, Manufacturing Projects & TAR Excellence to ensure project services best practices are consistently applied in alignment with the Manufacturing Capital Management Process (MCMP), turnaround standards, and associated governance frameworks.
The position plays a central role in capital planning, portfolio analytics, performance reporting, and continuous improvement, helping ensure manufacturing projects and turnarounds are planned, executed, and monitored effectively across the global organization.
- Coordinate development of the 3‑year Global Manufacturing Capital Plan in accordance with established capital planning processes
- Partner with manufacturing regions to compile, maintain, and forecast capital plans across all manufacturing sites
- Support global manufacturing and corporate reporting requirements by ensuring accurate and timely capital reporting inputs.
- Provide analytical support across the global manufacturing capital portfolio, including turnaround (TAR) events, delivering performance metrics for monitoring and reporting.
- Ensure manufacturing projects are managed in accordance with MCMP Project Services standards and guidelines.
- Support and execute portfolio‑level analysis related to cost, schedule, progress, and risk.
- Drive continuous improvement by identifying opportunities to enhance and embed project services best practices within MCMP and TAR standards.
- Coordinate development of standardized, site‑specific project controls procedures, work practices, and reporting tools (e.g., cost reporting, earned value management).
- Identify efficiency opportunities and lead initiatives to improve reporting automation, consistency, and optimization.
- Provide project services input and cost estimation support during stage gate reviews as required.
- Support reviews and audits of project execution strategies, including assessments of third‑party contractors and EPC partners.
- Assist in the analysis and evaluation of tender submissions when requested.
- Support identification, analysis, and management of project and turnaround risks.
- Act as a project services subject‑matter expert, providing guidance, mentoring, and data support to site teams to ensure consistent development of project elements (e.g., estimates, schedules, resource loading).
- Support resolution of project reporting inaccuracies and data quality issues.
- Provide support for non‑standard or complex projects as required.
- Provide direct project services support for select projects managed by the Central Projects team, including:
- Leading or overseeing cost estimating, scheduling, project controls, and cost management
- Supporting development and maintenance of project risk registers
- Supporting preparation and delivery of project performance reporting
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent formal qualification in Engineering, Construction Management, or Business
- 5+ years of experience across owner and/or contractor organizations, including field exposure
- 8+ years of combined experience supporting capital projects and/or turnarounds
- Demonstrated experience in estimating, cost control, and scheduling on major capital projects within an owner‑side environment
- Working knowledge of project risk management and mitigation strategies
