Manufacturing Engineer II

Overview

Toshiba International Corporation is a world leader in the design and manufacture of motors, motor controls and power electronics products. Many products are designed, built and tested in our manufacturing facility in Houston, TX. We have developed an integrated manufacturing process from research and development, design, engineering, production and manufacturing to after-market service and sales & marketing. • Plans, directs, and coordinates manufacturing processes.
• Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods using knowledge of product design, materials and parts, fabrication processes, tooling and production equipment capabilities, assembly methods, and quality control standards.
• Analyzes and plans workforce utilization, space requirements, and workflow, and designs layouts of equipment and work spaces for maximum efficiency.
• Confers with planning and design staff concerning product design and tooling to ensure efficient production methods.
• Estimates production times, staffing requirements, and related costs to provide information for management decisions.
• Develops, evaluates, and improves manufacturing methods while utilizing knowledge of production equipment capabilities, tooling, and quality standards.
• Able to analyze and plan workforce utilization, space requirements, workflow, and design layouts of equipment and workcells for maximum efficiency with minimal supervision.
• Designs tooling, lifting devices, fixtures, and related equipment as needed.
• Evaluates safety procedures and reduces hazards throughout the plant.
• Works with R&D or design groups to review the design process in new product development.
• Utilizes ERP with intermediate knowledge for tasks such as pulling BOMs or drawings from PLM, engineering software tools, and internal databases.
• Confers with vendors to determine product specifications and arrange for purchase of equipment, materials or parts, and evaluates products according to specifications and quality standards.
• Meets with internal groups to support manufacturing needs.
• Mentors and assists in the training and development of junior engineers and technicians.
• Maintains strong awareness of manufacturing costs and opportunities for process improvement.

• MS Office, ERP, AutoCAD, Solid Works, Pro/ENGINEER or CREO; use of various electronic instruments and measuring tools.

• BSEE, BSME, BSIE

• 5-10 years relevant work experience

• Knowledge of Die-Casting, Machining, & Stamping Processes
• Knowledge of NC Programming & Software, particularly MasterCAM
• Knowledge of AutoCAD (2D), Creo (3D), & Windchill (PLM) Software
• Knowledge of Oracle E-Business Suite (EBS)
• Ability to speak Spanish

• General office environment, with exposure to electrical and heavy industry hazards, possible non-climate-controlled environments

• Ability to lift up to 40 lbs., standing, stooping, climbing, kneeling, crawling
