Overview
Location: Houston
Project Engineer / HVAC Engineer / Mechanical Engineer required to join an innovative HVAC systems provider focused on offshore and onshore projects.
This company is a recognised leader in industrial HVAC systems, specialising in both offshore and onshore applications within the oil & gas industry. Known for its durable HVAC solutions, the company continues to grow, providing critical systems for hazardous environments and demanding industries.
This is an exciting opportunity for an accomplished Project Engineer, HVAC Engineer, or Mechanical Engineer with HVAC system design expertise to drive project success, collaborate with cross-functional teams, and support the delivery of world-class HVAC systems.
Compensation- $100,000 to $130,000 base salary
- Travel as required (up to 10%)
- Review project proposals, customer specifications, performance standards, and industry codes for HVAC systems in offshore and onshore applications.
- Perform HVAC system design, including heat load calculations, air flow verification, and mechanical layout planning.
- Select system components and consult with vendors for the best component choices.
- Prepare detailed ductwork designs, calculating sizing, pressure losses, and noise, ensuring compliance with industry codes.
- Develop equipment general arrangement and detailed design drawings, determining equipment weights and structural sizing.
- Coordinate with Electrical Designers to produce power and control system drawings.
- Communicate directly with clients to resolve design questions during the engineering phase.
- Review and submit drawing packages, ensuring they meet client specifications and standards.
- Prepare inquiry packages for technical components, solicit vendor proposals, and follow up on revisions.
- Generate Bills of Materials and enter data into project management systems.
- Assist with the preparation of operating and maintenance manuals once equipment is commissioned.
- Participate in technical reviews, ensuring designs meet operability, constructability, and serviceability standards.
- Provide sales support by offering preliminary design information when needed.
- Identify and propose solutions for improving product performance and manufacturing cost.
- Minimum of four years of relevant HVAC design experience.
- Strong understanding of HVAC design principles, including load calculations, system selection, and ductwork sizing.
- Familiarity with codes and regulations applicable to offshore HVAC systems (ASHRAE, NFPA, ABS, USCG, IMO, SMACNA).
- Knowledge of industrial power wiring, PLCs, and HVAC control systems.
- Experience with industrial construction and the design of packaged systems.
- Proficiency in 3D Modelling & CAD (Inventor, AutoCAD).
- Ability to develop conceptual mechanical layouts and detailed mechanical configurations.
- Strong problem-solving abilities and a methodical approach to design and implementation.
- Travel required:
up to 10%. - Valid driver’s license and ability to meet all physical requirements.
