Job Description

Job Summary:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented HVAC Design Engineers to design, develop, and optimize heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems for commercial, industrial, and/or residential projects. The HVAC Design Engineer will work closely with architects, project managers, and construction teams to ensure systems are energy‑efficient, code‑compliant, and aligned with project requirements.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design HVAC systems including load calculations, equipment selection, ductwork, piping, and control strategies
  • Prepare HVAC submittals, drawings, schematics, and specifications using CAD/BIM software
  • Perform heating and cooling load calculations and energy modeling
  • Ensure designs comply with applicable codes, standards, and regulations (ASHRAE, local building codes, energy codes)
  • Coordinate HVAC designs with architectural, structural, electrical, and plumbing disciplines
  • Review shop drawings, submittals, and RFIs for design compliance
  • Provide technical support during construction, installation, and commissioning phases
  • Evaluate existing HVAC systems and recommend upgrades or retrofits
  • Support cost estimation, value engineering, and system optimization
  • Participate in client meetings and design reviews as required
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field experience
  • 3+ years of experience in HVAC system design (experience level may be adjusted)
  • Proficiency with HVAC design software (e.g., Visio, AutoCAD, Revit, HAP, TRACE, or similar tools)
  • Strong understanding of HVAC principles, thermodynamics, and fluid mechanics
  • Knowledge of applicable codes and standards (ASHRAE, SMACNA, IMC, local codes)
  • Ability to read and interpret architectural and engineering drawings
  • Strong analytical, problem‑solving, and communication skills
Preferred Qualifications
  • LEED accreditation or experience with high‑performance/energy‑efficient buildings
  • Experience with BIM coordination and clash detection
  • Experience in commercial, healthcare, industrial, schools, or data center HVAC design
Working Conditions
  • Office‑based
  • May require coordination with contractors and project stakeholders
  • Standard business hours with potential overtime during project deadlines
