Position Summary
We are seeking an experienced Manufacturing Engineer with direct experience in turbine or large engine manufacturing environments. This role will lead the establishment and optimization of a turbine-focused manufacturing shop, specializing in packaging, tooling, assembly preparation, and preservation of large rotating equipment. The ideal candidate brings hands-on experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, or heavy industrial engines and has successfully led shop setup, tooling development, and process implementation initiatives in industrial environments.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead the setup and optimization of a turbine packaging and manufacturing shop in Houston
- Develop and standardize manufacturing processes for turbine assembly, disassembly, preservation, and packaging
- Design and implement specialized tooling, fixtures, and material handling solutions for large rotating components
- Define shop floor layout, workflow, and material handling processes to maximize efficiency and safety
- Establish quality control processes specific to turbine components and rotating equipment
- Collaborate cross-functionally with engineering, supply chain, quality, and operations teams
- Ensure compliance with industry standards, OEM specifications, and safety regulations
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives (Lean Manufacturing, Six Sigma preferred)
- Support cost estimation, capacity planning, and production scheduling activities
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field
- 5+ years of experience in turbine manufacturing, turbine assembly, or large engine manufacturing environments
- Direct hands-on experience with gas turbines, steam turbines, or heavy rotating equipment
- Proven experience setting up shop tooling, fixtures, and manufacturing processes
- Experience in packaging and preservation of large industrial equipment
- Strong knowledge of machining, fabrication, and industrial manufacturing processes
- Ability to work in a hands-on, fast-paced shop environment
