POSITION SUMMARYThe Project Engineer assists and supports the Superintendent & Project Manager on assigned projects. The position works will provide support to project supervisors and craft workforce to ensure all construction complies with all appropriate standards, codes, and specifications. The Project Engineer must be a flexible and adaptable team player, as well as have strong communication and client service skills.
MAJOR DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES- Verify all installations and completed work complies with drawing and specifications
- Research drawing interpretations, problems, and potential scope gaps
- Confirm layout for construction control lines and elevations for accurate measurement and correct installation of materials
- Maintain record drawings
- Coordinate and maintain records of inspections by authorities having jurisdiction (AHJ)
- Review, receive and verify submitted materials upon delivery
- Initiate, prepare, and review RFIs
- Provide schedule feedback based on subcontractor performance and equipment deliveries
- May assist with soliciting, receiving, and preparing quotations/change orders
- Provide input for owner project status reports, as required
- Attend project meetings, as directed by Project Manager and Superintendent
- Assist and/or complete project close-out and punch lists
- Communicate and enforce Prime’s health, safety, and environmental (HSE) management policies
- Demonstrate a commitment to a Zero Incidents safety culture through own actions
- Ensure compliance with all standard company processes and utilization of technology
- Assist Senior (Lead) Project Manager and Project Superintendents with project execution
- Other duties assigned
- Computer knowledge and efficiency, including Microsoft Office products
- Ability to read drawings and specifications for all trades
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Basic math/accounting skills
- Functions effectively as part of a team
- Dependability, timeliness, and attention to detail
- Ability to maintain discretion and confidentiality at all times
- Time management skills and organizational skills
- Ability to multitask among multiple responsibilities
- Experience in any other construction-related fields a plus, but not required.
- Bachelor’s Degree - Construction Management or Engineering a plus, but not required.
- Must be able to travel daily to sites within the greater Houston area required.
- Must possess a valid driver’s license.
