The Product Line Manager II ? Capital Equipment (Tubular Handling Systems) is responsible for the end-to-end ownership and performance of assigned capital equipment product lines, from market strategy and front-end scope definition through manufacturing execution, delivery, and lifecycle support. This role balances commercial, operational, and technical priorities to maximize profitability, market share, and customer satisfaction. Tubular Handling Systems, includes pipe handling, transfer, and make-up/break-out equipment (e.g., catwalks, iron roughnecks/wrenches).

The PLM II serves as the single point of accountability for product line performance, leading without direct authority across Engineering, Operations, Supply Chain, Quality, Sales, and Service. The role requires strong understanding of capital equipment applications, customer requirements, cost structures, and manufacturing processes, while driving disciplined execution through S&OP, standardization, and continuous improvement.

  • Owns overall product line strategy and execution for assigned capital equipment, ensuring alignment with Canrig financial, operational, and growth objectives.
  • Leads the Sales & Operations Planning (S&OP) process from customer inquiry through release to manufacturing, ensuring accurate quotations, scope definition, and delivery commitments.
  • Manages P&L performance for the product line, including pricing strategy, cost management, backlog planning, inventory optimization, and margin improvement.
  • Develops and maintains product definitions, configurations, and quotation templates to minimize scope creep and ensure consistent execution.
  • Partners with Engineering to prioritize new product development, product enhancements, and technical support, minimizing disruptions while meeting market demands.
  • Facilitates the transition of new products or R&D initiatives into manufacturing, ensuring readiness across production, quality, supply chain, and service.
  • Analyzes product line performance, identifies cost, quality, or delivery gaps, and leads corrective action plans to strengthen competitiveness.
  • Works closely with Sales and customers to understand market needs, competitive landscape, and application requirements, translating insights into actionable product strategies.
  • Recommends manufacturing build plans, including speculative builds where appropriate, to maintain competitive lead times and optimal inventory levels.
  • Rationalizes product offerings to ensure preferred models are fully supported while minimizing complexity and excess inventory.
  • Leads cross-functional Product Line Team meetings, driving accountability, issue resolution, and continuous improvement.
  • Develops business cases for new products, capital investments, or major product changes, ensuring acceptable return on investment.
  • Supports introduction of new products through sales training, customer communication, and launch readiness.
  • Ensures products are manufactured, tested, and delivered in compliance with quality standards, safety requirements, and customer specifications.
  • Drives continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Lean Manufacturing and operational excellence principles.

  • Bachelor?s degree required;
    Engineering degree preferred (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or related field).
  • 8?10 years of progressive experience in capital equipment, manufacturing, product management, or operations, preferably within oil & gas or industrial markets.
  • Strong understanding of capital equipment manufacturing, cost structures, and lifecycle management.
  • Demonstrated experience leading cross-functional teams in a matrix environment without direct authority.
  • Working knowledge of S&OP, ERP/MRP systems, and financial fundamentals (P&L, margins, ROI).
