Schedule: Monday–Friday | 7:00 AM – 4:00 PM
Employment Type: Full-Time
Compensation: $72,000 – $83,000 annually (based on experience)
We are partnering with a growing industrial equipment company seeking a detail-oriented Mechanical Drafter to support engineering and manufacturing teams by creating precise technical drawings and 3D models using Solid Works.
This role is ideal for someone with strong drafting skills who enjoys collaborating with engineers, solving design challenges, and translating concepts into accurate production-ready drawings.
Position OverviewThe Mechanical Drafter is responsible for producing detailed 2D and 3D drawings used in the manufacturing and assembly of industrial equipment. This role works closely with engineering and operations teams to ensure designs meet project specifications, manufacturing requirements, and quality standards.
Key Responsibilities- Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using Solid Works
- Develop drawings for manufacturing including sheet metal parts, machined components, and assemblies
- Work closely with engineers to gather product specifications and design requirements
- Interpret sketches, concepts, and technical instructions to create accurate models and drawings
- Revise and update drawings based on engineering changes, client feedback, or regulatory requirements
- Perform basic calculations for dimensions, tolerances, materials, and structural requirements
- Assist engineering teams in the development of new products and equipment designs
- Analyze drawings, specifications, and requirements for internal and external customers
- Coordinate with manufacturing and documentation teams to ensure accuracy of production drawings
- Ensure drawings comply with applicable standards, specifications, and company procedures
- Maintain organized documentation and version control of design files
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives and technical training as required
- Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Mechanical Design, or related field preferred
- Minimum 2+ years of experience using Solid Works for 2D and 3D design
- Experience creating assembly drawings and manufacturing documentation
- Familiarity with sheet metal design, weldments, or machined components preferred
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills
- Solid mathematical and analytical abilities
- Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
- Strong communication skills and ability to collaborate with engineering and production teams
- Self-motivated with the ability to work independently
- Ability to sit and work at a computer for extended periods
- Ability to occasionally move between office and shop environments
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with team members
Work is primarily performed in a professional office environment with occasional interaction in manufacturing or shop areas. The role requires collaboration with engineering, manufacturing, and documentation teams to ensure designs are accurate and production-ready.
