Electronics Design Engineer - Space Exploration Electronic Systems (ADV

1)
Supports new designs from conception through manufacturing, testing, and deployment for NASA space‑flight hardware.
Responsibilities- Report directly to the Electronics and Electrical Section Manager.
- Lead or collaborate with the team of Electronics and Electrical Engineers on projects.
- Provide design support and guidance in electronics system development.
- Ensure compliance with NASA specifications for electronic component development.
- Develop component test stand architectures and generate electrical component and lab instrumentation test system designs.
- Develop and modify LabVIEW code for test systems.
- Develop detailed test verification procedures.
- Work with electrical and mechanical technicians to build and test designed systems.
- Develop and test breakout boxes and digital/analog sensor emulation systems.
- Perform electrical evaluation/selection of instrumentation (pressure transducers, flow meters, pumps, fans, RTDs, thermocouples, etc.).
- Troubleshoot and repair existing test systems.
- Conduct analog and digital PCB design for various application needs.
- Develop test software modules to perform specific tests.
- Collaborate with eCAD designer for PCB layouts.
- Follow laboratory operating procedures and maintain safety standards.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
- Minimum bachelor’s degree in Engineering; master’s preferred.
- 10–15 years of relevant experience in electronics design.
- Leadership experience with electronics design engineering teams.
- Experience in requirements definition and architecture development.
- Proficiency in analog, digital, and power PCB design, fabrication, and assembly.
- Expertise with electrical schematic entry and PCB layout tools such as Altium Designer.
- Version control experience (e.g., Subversion/SVN).
- Experience with cable design and fabrication for space applications.
- Familiarity with JSC standards and processes.
- Experience with data acquisition systems, National Instruments, and LabVIEW.
- FPGA and VHDL development experience (Xilinx Vivado).
- Embedded system design and microcontroller circuit expertise.
- Requirements verification experience.
- Programming experience in C/C++ and Python.
- Circuit simulation tools (Pspice, OrCAD, Multisim).
- Test hardware proficiency (oscilloscopes, multimeters, logic analyzers, function generators, electronic load banks, power supplies, power analyzers).
- Knowledge of data interface protocols (Ethernet, RS232, RS422, RS485, I2C, SPI).
- Analog instrumentation system design and testing.
- Design, development, and validation of NASA space‑flight hardware.
- Excellent communication and organizational skills for multidisciplinary teams.
- Proficiency in MS Office (Project, Excel, PowerPoint, Word, One Note, One Drive, Outlook).

- 9/80 work schedule (every other Friday off), where applicable.
