Advanced Program Support Technician
Advanced Program Support Technician role supporting K ’s Space Suit Design Team within the Science and Space division. Responsible for manufacturing, building, testing, and maintenance of aerospace flight hardware, including Extravehicular Mobility Unit (EMU) suits and associated components.
Responsibilities- Manufacturing, maintenance, assembly, testing, repair, and processing of hardware to support events and deliverables; incorporates engineering changes and performs functional performance testing of EMU components or related hardware.
- Operate machine equipment such as 3D printers, RF welding machines, fabric lasers, wheel cutters, and low‑pressure air systems.
- Assist engineers in locating and diagnosing anomalies and recommend corrective action.
- Read engineering drawings, schematics, equipment specifications, and test procedures daily.
- Complete required training, both online and classroom, to maintain certifications and job competence.
- Update various job‑related databases on a daily basis.
- Adhere to quality and safety requirements.
- Transport hardware to events by operating a motor vehicle as required.
- Communicate verbally and in writing with technicians, leads, engineers, managers, and customers.
- Must pass Class III Physical, Physiological Training, Clean Room and Controlled Work Area Training.
- Excellent mechanical skills and ability to read, comprehend, and execute detailed technical processing procedures, engineering drawings, and Work Authorizing Document directions.
- Valid Texas driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to operate a government vehicle.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills; must read and interpret Work Authorizing Documents (WADs) and mechanical design drawings.
- Team‑based work environment capacity.
- High School Diploma or equivalent GED.
- 5+ years of related experience.
- Associate’s degree plus applicable years of directly related technical experience, or equivalent military technical school experience.
- Experience with pressure systems; familiar with pressurized test equipment.
