Job Summary

Our client is seeking a Piping Designer responsible for developing piping layouts and detailed design drawings using CAD software. The role involves creating and revising piping drawings from conceptual markups, P&IDs, and verbal instructions, while ensuring designs meet company, client, and industry standards. The Piping Designer will coordinate with engineering and project teams to ensure accurate and efficient piping system design.

Job Description

• Create, modify, and maintain detailed piping drawings and 3D models based on design requirements, markups, and P&IDs.
• Develop piping layouts, equipment arrangements, and piping routing in accordance with project standards and specifications.
• Prepare drawings and standards files in accordance with Company and Client standards.
• Perform preliminary QA/QC checks on drawings and models to ensure accuracy and compliance with project requirements.
• Ensure continuity between conceptual designs and detailed designs.
• Assist in the development of piping design criteria and standards.
• Coordinate with engineering and other disciplines to ensure design integration and resolve clashes or design conflicts.
• Work within a project team under the guidance of engineering and design leads.
• May interface with clients to obtain or provide technical information related to piping design.
• Follow corporate and project safety standards and procedures.

Skills Required

• 3-6 years of piping design or drafting experience preferred.
• Proficient in AutoCAD and piping design/drafting software.
• Strong understanding of piping layouts, routing, and equipment arrangement.
• Basic understanding of P&IDs, piping symbols, and the ability to translate P&IDs into 2D drawings or 3D models.
• Ability to understand and apply engineering and piping design concepts.
• Ability to identify impacts of design changes on other disciplines and communicate effectively.
• Ability to research manufacturer technical data and coordinate with vendors, clients, and engineers.
• Strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload.
• Strong communication skills and ability to work in a team environment .

Education/Training/Certifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Associate degree or technical certification in Drafting, Design Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related field preferred.
• Additional piping design training or certifications are a plus
