Practice:
Mechanical Engineering
- Conducting hands‑on analyses of mechanical equipment failures to understand what happened and the cause of the failure in collaboration with experts in other engineering disciplines
- Creating written reports and presentations and presenting these communications to both technical and non‑technical clients
- Supporting an expansive internal client base that works collaboratively to solve complex, real‑world problems associated with various types of mechanical equipment
- Planning and executing custom laboratory tests using a variety of traditional and novel methods
- Performing calculations and analyses, creating written reports and presentations, and performing field inspections
- Ph.D. in Mechanical Engineering, Structural Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related field
- Specialized knowledge in solid mechanics, structural mechanics, computational mechanics, and fracture/damage mechanics
- Completion of formal coursework in machine design, thermal/fluids, and control systems
- Experience performing fatigue and/or fitness‑for‑service analysis
- Working knowledge of basic computational platforms such as finite element method and MATLAB
- Experience with engineering drawings and/or CAD
- Hands‑on work or research experience
- Willing to work in new technical areas
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills
- Excellent project ownership and initiative characteristics
- Ability to work independently and within project teams with a strong desire to contribute
- Potential for technical and project management leadership, and desire to grow a client base
- Must be able to convey technical information to individuals in engineering, business, legal and related industries
- Willingness to travel
- Legally authorized to work in the United States; no immigration sponsorship or processing required
