Job Title: Ports and Marine Project Manager
Locations: Raleigh, NC;
Houston, TX;
San Diego + Irvine, CA;
Tampa, FL.
WSP seeks a Ports and Marine Project Manager to lead maritime projects, manage task leaders, schedules, budgets, and client expectations across a dynamic organization of maritime engineers in the U.S. and globally.
Responsibilities- Take responsibility for supervising work of staff engineers and task leads, and self‑perform calculations and prepare drawings and technical specifications.
- Prepare technical studies and reports and guide/review work of staff engineers.
- Oversee calculations, cost estimates, drawings, technical specifications and reports.
- Perform quality assurance checks, manage projects, tasks and staff for marine facility projects such as container, bulk, break‑bulk terminals; federal facilities; and private/public clients.
- Coordinate multiple disciplines (civil, structural, geotechnical, electrical, mechanical, coastal, fire protection, architecture).
- Prepare alternative analysis reports and presentations for repair projects and capital improvement programs.
- Lead review meetings, client presentations, and design charrettes.
- Perform business development and marketing activities, maintain client relationships, and prepare technical proposals, presentations, negotiations, and staff estimates.
- Exercise responsible and ethical decision‑making regarding company funds, resources, and conduct, and adhere to WSP’s Code of Conduct and related policies.
- Perform additional responsibilities as required by business needs.
- Bachelor’s degree in Civil or Structural Engineering.
- 7+ years of relevant post‑education experience in engineering, with prior marine, port, and coastal design.
- Engineer license required (multi‑state preferred).
- Knowledge of maritime related codes (ASCE, COPRI, etc.) and DoD criteria (UFC, UFGC).
- Proficiency with state‑of‑the‑art computer programs and ability to supervise staff.
- Track record of upholding workplace safety and compliance with health, safety, drug/alcohol, and harassment policies.
- Flexibility to meet business needs, prioritize tasks and adapt to a fast‑paced environment.
- Occasional travel may be required.
- Ability to obtain a TWIC card (TSA background check).
- Master’s degree in Engineering.
- Experience managing Port Authority, NAVY, or Coast Guard projects.
