A recognized engine and turbine controls company is seeking a Panel Test Technician to join the team. This role works closely with the engineering and panel assembly teams in a panel fabrication shop environment. The Panel Test Technician is responsible for the verification, testing, and quality assurance of control panels, ensuring all panels are constructed in accordance with engineering drawings and project specifications prior to shipment.
Salary: $25-30/Hour DOE
Location: NW Houston, TX

Responsibilities:- Perform point-to-point continuity checks on completed control panels to verify proper wiring in accordance with approved drawings.
- Inspect panel construction to ensure conformance with engineering drawings, schematics, terminal assignments, and bill of materials.
- Identify, document, and communicate construction deficiencies or drawing errors to engineering staff for resolution.
- Measure and source voltage, current, and frequency using calibrated test equipment (DMMs, clamp meters, signal generators, etc.).
- Follow established test procedures and checklists; document test results accurately and completely.
- Perform and support customer witness testing (Factory Acceptance Tests / CATs), including hosting customer representatives on-site and guiding them through acceptance procedures.
- Coordinate with the engineering team to prepare test packages, including test procedures, loop check sheets, and red‑line markups.
- Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment in the panel shop and test area.
- Communicate test status and findings clearly to project engineers and project managers.
- High school diploma or equivalent required;
Associate's degree or vocational/technical certification in Electrical Technology or related field preferred. - Minimum 2 years of experience in electrical panel wiring, testing, or related instrumentation and controls work.
- Demonstrated understanding of AC and DC circuit theory, including voltage, current, resistance, and power relationships.
- Proficiency in reading and interpreting electrical schematics, wiring diagrams, terminal drawings, and one‑line diagrams.
- Hands‑on experience with standard electrical test equipment including digital multimeters, loop calibrators, and insulation testers.
- Ability to follow written test procedures and document results accurately.
- Strong attention to detail with a commitment to quality and accuracy.
- Effective verbal and written communication skills.
- Experience with Woodward or other turbo machinery control systems preferred.
- Familiarity with industrial instrumentation standards (4–20 mA loops, HART, Modbus, etc.) preferred.
- Experience participating in or supporting Factory Acceptance Tests (FATs) or Customer Acceptance Tests (CATs) preferred.
- Working knowledge of NEC and applicable electrical codes for industrial control panels preferred.
- Experience with IEC or NEMA panel construction standards preferred.
- AutoCAD knowledge a plus; ability to navigate and mark up electrical drawings in AutoCAD or AutoCAD Electrical is beneficial.
- Ability to stand, kneel, bend, and work in confined panel spaces for extended periods.
- Capable of lifting up to 50 lbs unassisted.
- Monday–Friday, 7:00am–5:00pm.
