Director of Engineering and Asset Management
Support US & Canada Business Unit, managing sustaining capex engineering and technology projects ensuring VPM stages are complete and Vopak standards are followed. Project Controls applied in accordance with local and national regulations, maintaining a Repeatable Formula and providing sound project management advice. Oversight of growth and JV terminal operations, implementing customer, expansion and capital needs projects within budget and Company standards.

- Must possess or be able to obtain a TWIC (Transportation Worker Identification Credential)
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Mechanical Engineer or similar
- Master of Science in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical or Chemical) or equivalent preferred
- Minimum of 15 years of relevant project experience
- Minimum of 8 years technical management experience
- MS Projects – P6 knowledge & proficiency a plus
- Good knowledge and experience of cost estimating software utilization
- Good knowledge and experience of CAD software utilization
- Expert (+15 years) in Development, definition and implementation of Front‑End Loading (FEL I, II & III)
- Expert (+15 years) in new and existing technology related to green/brownfield terminal development
- Expert (+15 years) in industry technologies related to storing & handling of Oil, Gas & Chemical and bulk liquids
- Expert in relevant industry standards and practices (e.g. API, NFPA, PIANC, etc.)
- Expert in supporting and providing advice during development of the conceptual design, functional requirements and Basis of Design (BoD) in close coordination with Project Team
- Experience in the oil and gas industry & chemicals
Abides by all safety procedures and practices applicable to location and position; participates in appropriate safety training; demonstrates commitment to and support of SH&E principles and values; champions safety as necessary.
Project Management- Managing simultaneously several projects, contract management, stakeholders’ management, interface management
- Capable of managing several projects and following VPM stage‑gate process
- Works closely with Vopak Global Engineering Inform Managing Director, Project Owners to report progress and main issues
- Provides solutions to keep projects on track
- Comprehensive knowledge of project management and contract management to ensure contractors perform per Vopak Quality and Safety standards
- Supports project owner in identifying project technical staffing requirements
- Reviews and validates Project Management plans
- Initiates and organizes key project reviews and ensures all Divisional & Global reviews are implemented and complete per VPM methodology
- Ensures Internal Customer input is documented and included in BOD
- Ensures project maintain a Decision log
- Ensures full compliance with permits and regulatory requirements and with Vopak minimum technical, local regulations and operational standards
- Knowledgeable in risk management and uses outcomes of project risk assessment to improve execution until project end
- At least 15 years in projects engineering experience & knowledge in Oil, Gas and Chemicals Terminals design (Operational Experience a plus)
- Knowledgeable in different standards and recommended design practices typically applied in the Oil Gas and Chemical Industries (API, NFPA, IE, ISGOTT, etc.)
- Experience with execution of engineering activities in projects and interfaces between different disciplines
