Managing Engineer (Ph.D)

Practice:
Metallurgy and Corrosion Engineering

• Identifying, developing, and securing new business opportunities
• Significantly increasing Exponent's materials and corrosion engineering consulting efforts, particularly in upstream, midstream, and downstream oil and gas
• Analyzing a wide variety of safety, performance and reliability issues related to materials and corrosion engineering using field inspections, engineering analysis and experimental testing

• Ph.D. in Materials Science and Engineering, Metallurgy, Chemical Engineering, or related discipline
• At least 5-10 years of related professional experience
• Licensure as a professional engineer (PE or P. Eng) in Metallurgical Engineering or related discipline is required
• Certification through the American Petroleum Institute's Individual Certification Programs (e.g., API 580) is preferred but not required
• Litigation experience as a testifying expert is preferred but not required
• Business development experience with a proven track record
• Recognized leader in their field
• Ability to attract projects to support full-time staff and to manage and develop a group of highly motivated individuals
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to work independently or in multidisciplinary teams
• A record of professional papers and presentations, and a proven record of dedication to quality and accuracy
• Presently legally authorized to work in the US, no immigration sponsorship or visa processing required

Base salary range depends on experience and capabilities, assessed during interview. Manager level and above include base salary, annual bonus, and 401(k) employer contribution of 7%.
