Overview
Chevron is seeking entry‑level Earth Scientists to join our domestic upstream operations, global exploration teams, or research‑focused Center of Excellence (COE). These roles involve a mix of exploration, appraisal, development, and technology assignments, offering opportunities to work across locations, including possible overseas assignments after substantial experience.
Key Responsibilities- Develop and apply technical skills in geoscience, geophysics, and petrophysics for exploration, development, reservoir characterization, and well operations.
- Participate in technical assignments that involve data collection, analysis, modeling, and interpretation.
- Work with digital technologies and techniques to solve challenging subsurface problems.
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams of geologists, engineers, data scientists, and software developers.
- Support a competency‑based development program, completing 2–3 technical assignments over the first five years with on‑the‑job training and mentoring.
- Students completing the final year of a Master’s or Doctorate thesis, or holders of a Master’s or Doctorate in geology, geophysics, geological engineering, or related fields.
- Strong academic record and demonstrated communication, leadership, teamwork, and problem‑solving skills.
- Professional/academic background aligned with Chevron’s exploration, appraisal, asset development, or technology needs.
- Available to travel and drive on a routine basis.
- Experience in an integrated oil or international service company internship program.
- Participation in energy industry or university research projects.
- Hands‑on experience with geoscience coding, data science, or machine learning.
- U.S. salary range: $108,000–$140,000, determined by degree level and discipline.
