Overview & Responsibilities
Summary of Role:
We are hiring a Turbo machinery Repair Estimator! This person will independently develop and deliver accurate, timely, and comprehensive cost estimates and commercial proposals for complex repair and re-rate projects involving Elliott and non-Elliott multi-stage engineered turbo machinery. This is an individual contributor role with combined technical and commercial responsibilities, focusing on systematic scope definition, material/labor cost analysis, and quotation development for repair orders (ranging from $5,000 to $2,000,000).
- Cost Estimation & Proposal Development
Lead the entire quotation phase for repair orders, including gathering all technical and logistical data for cost make-ups, defining detailed work scopes, determining labor hours and material/subcontracting costs, and preparing and issuing competitive proposals. - Technical Scope Definition & Analysis
Analyze complex inspection reports and technical data to accurately define the required repair work scope and determine the correct technical actions. Assist factory and service engineers in developing and costing unique repair processes. - Commercial & Margin Management
Act as a daily function of promoting future business and defining project pricing. Ensure that all estimates are structured to meet a 35% profit goal by accurately analyzing costs and validating margins. Effectively communicate EEE Terms and Conditions to customers. - Documentation & Handoff
Develop, maintain, and archive detailed cost models and estimating documentation for quoted projects. Prepare comprehensive technical and commercial packages to ensure a seamless handoff to the Project Management and Accounting teams upon receipt of an order. - Communication & Coordination
Maintain continuous formal and informal communication with internal stakeholders (Service Engineering, Shop Management, Purchasing, Sales, Accounting, etc.) and external customers and vendors (operations, purchasing, engineering backgrounds) to validate technical requirements and pricing inputs.
Dimension:
Role supports a Sales Budget (bookings/quota) of $4,000,000+ and manages estimation efforts for approximately 100 customer accounts. Minimal travel is required.
- Experience
Minimum five (5) years of experience in turbo machinery repair techniques, processes, and cost estimating within a manufacturing or repair environment. - Knowledge
Extensive knowledge of turbo machinery repair technology and design, particularly complex multi-stage engineered apparatus, and thorough knowledge of Elliott and non-Elliott equipment. Must have completed all EEE product training. Knowledge of manufacturing processes such as machining, welding, and fabrication, and the ability to read and interpret manufacturing drawings are highly desirable. - Education
Technical or business degree, or equivalent experience. - Skills
Demonstrated experience in translating technical requirements and scope of work into accurate cost make-ups and commercial proposals. Effective written and verbal communication, self-motivation, strong organization and time management, and the ability to handle demanding deadlines. Must be able to develop and grow relationships with diverse internal and external contacts.
