Reporting directly to the Global Manufacturing Manager, the Advanced Manufacturing Machining Engineer is responsible for executing the manufacturing roadmap. This includes optimizing machining processes, ensuring the proper use of equipment, reviewing design specifications and setups, and implementing new control strategies. This role integrates advanced manufacturing technologies, automation, and systems to improve efficiency, reduce costs, and ensure product quality.
The Advanced Manufacturing Machining Engineer is also responsible for leading initiatives to ensure new equipment purchases are specified, sourced, qualified, and properly transitioned into production, meeting Dover Precision Components and customer requirements and timelines.

- Proven success managing medium- and large-scale projects from conception through implementation.
- Demonstrated experience improving productivity through machining optimization.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience: A minimum of five (5) years of experience in manufacturing engineering, directly working with machining automation processes.
- Automation Equipment Expertise: Experience setting up and operating state-of-the-art automation equipment such as robotics, cobots, AMR’s.
- Metrology
Skills:
Deep expertise with a variety of conventional and advanced precision metrology systems (e.g., photogrammetry, CMMs, 3D imaging). - CAD Proficiency: Strong experience with Solid Works or an equivalent mechanical CAD platform.
- Shop Operations: Comprehensive understanding of standard machine shop manufacturing processes and setups.
- Problem Solving: Excellent analytical skills with the ability to collaborate effectively in a fast-paced environment.
- Safety Culture: Strong commitment to rigorous safety precautions in both design and practice.
- Continuous Improvement: Deep understanding and application of Lean Manufacturing concepts.
- Execute DPC Manufacturing strategy by working with site manufacturing teams to drive productivity on new capex and existing equipment by maximizing machine utilization through automation.
- Identify, develop, and deploy new automation methods (or refine existing) to improve quality, reduce cost, and optimize build schedule.
- Provide technical development and deployment for new technologies related to manufacturing to drive productivity improvements.
- Support manufacturing to achieve safety, quality, efficiency and throughput goals, identifying opportunities to improve.
- Drive and support manufacturing strategy by using continuous improvement and problem-solving methodology to improve internal processes.
- Apply Project Management skills & tools to lead and support capital equipment/improvement projects.
- Interact collaboratively across the organization to identify issues and implement improvements.
- Partner with suppliers to evaluate and implement new automation technologies.
- Provide recommendation on upgrade of automation equipment to maximize asset utilization.
- Lead root cause analysis and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Provide hands‑on support for new product and new process launches.
- Lead progress meetings; reporting out to Leadership, internal teams and external stakeholders.
- Serve as Subject Matter Expert on automation; provide guidance and knowledge to teams.
- Perform root cause analyses when non-conformances are identified and deploy corrective actions.
- Investigate equipment performance and identify any problems for corrective actions and solutions.
- Supports factory and site acceptance tests, machinability studies, and validation protocols.
This role requires travel away from home up to 50% of the time during peak periods.
