Qualifications and Experience

  • B.S./M.S. degree in Ecology, Biology, Environmental Science, or related technical field
  • Local and national contacts and ability to develop and market to new and existing clients
  • 15+ years of experience in aquatic ecology, threatened and endangered species consultation, or environmental permitting and reporting, including knowledge of the City of Houston Environmental Criteria Manual, Environmental Resource Inventories, Floodplain Health Assessments, TCEQ regulations, Geologic Assessments, and Section 401, 402, 404 Federal Clean Water Act Regulations
  • Demonstrated client development and management experience to expand service delivery to the public sector, energy, oil and gas, manufacturing, mining, and real‑estate markets
  • Ability to provide senior technical expertise and mentoring to staff and managers in the ecological practice
  • Experience working with state and federal regulators and understanding regulations from agencies such as EPA, U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, and U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service
Additional Qualifications
  • Professional Wetland Scientist (PWS) certification
  • Proficiency in geographic information systems (GIS)
  • Permitting experience with the City of Houston
  • Familiarity with Houston Land Development Code, Section 25‑8‑121 and Title 30‑5, and Edwards Aquifer rules (Title 30 TAC Chapter 213)
  • Experience with NEPA and FERC projects
Responsibilities

Build and grow the Ecological Practice in the Houston, TX office; develop business for CEC through the utilization of existing networks and internal resources; collaborate with staff ecologists and lead projects; provide senior technical expertise and mentoring; engage with clients across various sectors.
