Process Analyzer FEED Engineer

Lead the consulting and design of analytical systems for green‑field and brown‑field projects, including analysis of measurement requirements, system integration, and project execution across the Gulf Coast region.

Responsibilities
  • Perform site walk‑downs, review existing sample points, and recommend new sampling points or probe designs.
  • Plan field bundle routing, collect customer data for equipment datasheet preparation, and review existing equipment with troubleshooting.
  • Create redline drawings for existing equipment and detail available utilities for new or modified installations.
  • Inspect installations, supervise installation activities, and support production and testing phases.
  • Develop and finalize design documentation to represent “as built” condition.
  • Communicate project requirements to internal Valmet teams (sales, quotations, engineering, design, project management, production, test, and supply chain).
  • Prepare datasheets, analyzer lists, and preliminary drawings as required.
  • Direct the project designer in the creation of detailed drawings for shelters or racks, covering plan views, elevations, wiring diagrams, piping schematics, sample conditioning systems, sample probe drawings, alarm system wiring, and fabrication drawings.
  • Specify project Bill of Materials, approve material requisitions, and manage procurement of equipment.
  • Support craftsmen during production and technicians during testing and FAT phases.
Required Knowledge, Skills,

Education and Experience
  • BS Degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Chemical Engineering, Chemistry, or Physics (Associate’s degree with strong analytical technology background acceptable).
  • 10+ years of successful experience in an analyzer project engineering role.
  • Ability to communicate complex design requirements with customers, design teams, and craftsmen.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook) and software such as AutoCAD, Solid Edge / Solid Works, ChemCAD;
    Visual Basic knowledge is a plus.
  • Deep knowledge of analyzer systems integration including plan views, elevations, electrical power/signal, utility piping/tubing, sample conditioning systems, sample probes, and alarm systems (PLCs or relay logic).
  • Strong calculation skills for sample lag time, pressure drop, line sizing, dewpoint, piping sizing, orifice sizing, valve Cv, panel board loading, transformer sizing, breaker and conductor sizing.
  • Capability to read and understand end‑user P&IDs and redline drawings.
  • Working knowledge of codes/standards: NEC, IEC, API, NFPA, ISA; hazardous area classifications (Class I Division 1 & 2, ATEX Zone 1 &
    2); NEMA 7 electrical equipment.
  • Experience with gas analyzers (GC, UV/IR, paramagnetic, FTNIR, CEMS, pH & conductivity, TOC, catalytic bead stacks) and related applications (process, stack O2/Combustible, CEMS, HRVOC, Subpart Ja).
  • Familiarity with signal communication protocols:
    Modbus, OPC, TCP/IP Ethernet.
  • Understanding of petrochemical or refinery electrical, instrumentation, mechanical, and structural specifications.
  • Experience reviewing analytical system integration quotations against customer specifications and analyzer datasheets.
  • Field project experience at a petrochemical or refinery site.
Preferred Qualifications
  • 10+ years as a lead engineer for analytical system integration projects.
  • Registered Professional Engineer (P.E.) in the State of Texas.
  • Strong leadership and team coordination experience in complex project environments.
